The first National Boxing championship was held at
Karachi in 1948.

6. Professional vs Amateur boxing
Throughout the 17th through 19th centuries,

7. Amateur Boxing in Pakistan
Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) is the governing body
of Amateur Boxing in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Amateur Boxing Federation (PBF) organizes
amateur matches.
Pakistan has seen success at Amateur level boxing, despite
lack of necessary equipment and facilities.
They have won medals at the Olympic and Commonwealth
Games. An example being Quetta born Haider Ali who won
Gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games at Featherweight,
and went on to become a professional boxer.
Asgher Ali Shah member of Pakistan under 19 team he has
won different titles against Malaysians and Filipinos. He is
two time Olympian, He has 13 gold and 10 silver medals at
the international level.

This will enable Pakistan’s fighters to take part in
international title events held by WBC around the Globe

Title Fight in Pakistan

WBA/IBF Jr Welterweight boxing
champion Amir Khan discussed his
desire to participate in a world title fight
there sometime soon. Khan is currently
in the region after accepting an invitation
