3. SENDAI FRAMEWORK
The SENDAI FRAMEWORK for disaster risk reduction is an
international document .
It was adopted by UN members states on18 march 2015 at the UN
WCDRR held in sendai, Japan and endorsed by the UN general
assembly in June 2015 .
This document emerged from 3 years of talk, assisted by the
UNISDR.
It’s a improve version of Hyogo Framework For Action HFA(2005-
2015)
4. PRIORITIES OF SENDAI FRAMEWORK
Understanding disaster risk.
Strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk.
Investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience.
Enhancing disaster preparedness for effective response, and to Build Back Better
in Recovery Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.
5. TARGETS
Reduce global disaster mortality by 2030.
Reduce the number of affected people globally by 2030.
Reduce direct disaster economic loss in relation to global GDP by
2030.
Reduce disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of
basic services, like health and educational facilities .

Increase the number of countries with national and local disaster risk
reduction strategies by 2020.
Enhance international co-operation to developing countries through
proper support to their national actions for working of the framework.
Increase the presence of and access to multi-hazard early warning

9. IMPLEMENTATION IN INDIA
INDIA’S first ever NDMP was released by SH.Narendra Modi on 01.06.2016 at New
Delhi.
It is based on the sendai framework for disaster risk reduction.
The plan is based on the four priority theme of the sendai framework.
The plan (NDMP) covers all phases of disaster management prevention, mitigation,
response and recovery.
The first AMCDRR conference after the introduction of sendai framework was held
at New Delhi on nov.2016.
