This document summarizes a panel discussion on achieving equity with open educational resources (OER). The panelists discussed how high textbook costs present barriers to education access and equity. OER, which can be freely used, adapted, and shared, were presented as a way to lower costs and increase access. Benefits of OER discussed included cost savings for students, opportunities for open pedagogy, and their potential to better represent marginalized groups. Government initiatives and resources to promote OER adoption were also reviewed as ways to maximize impact and serve all learners.
