Students are usually asked for their feedback on the teaching offered at the end of the course when there is no time for teachers to improve teaching during the module. The muddiest-point technique is a better way because it can be administered during lectures or discussion groups and depends on asking students to think about the muddiest point, which is the most confusing point/part that students find difficult to understand/comprehend/apply. The question asked can be “What was the most confusing idea we addressed today?” or any similar question (Angelo and Cross, 1993). The impact of this technique is multi-faceted as it gives teachers a chance to improve their teaching in a way that appeals to students and gets students involved by creating a responsive link between teachers and students. Learning Objective: Assess methods for improving study skills Learning to study effectively is a skill that benefits everyone, even the smartest in the class. When polled, most college students would agree that when they started college, they did not know how to properly study. In this seminar, we will address preparatory study principles, such as setting goals, knowing your learning style, being an active reader, participating in study groups, organizing your notes and study materials, and writing drafts of papers, that can help all students improve their study skills and perform better. At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to: a. Identify the traits of successful studying candidates. b. Generate methods for achieving successful studying habits. c. Outline methods for implementing successful studying techniques.

DNP Project Proposal Defense Template 1 Build the presentation Use the information from your DPI Project Proposal Template document as the base. Edit down your proposal presentation. Summarize Chapters 1-3. Include Appendix A. Check…and Double Check Timing: The Proposal Defense presentation should be no longer than 30 minutes. Be sure you have the approval of your DPI Chairperson and Committee for everything in the presentation; if you are unsure of something, clarify it prior to your defense call. Practice multiple times. Format DO: Use this GCU slide layout. Use an easy to read font size. Use figures and tables. DO NOT: Do not add slide transitions, animation, or sounds that are distracting. Do not crowd slides with excessive text. Oral Presentation Create notes in your presentation of the points you want to cover in your oral presentation of each slide. Except for specific content, such as clinical questions, do not just read the slides. Paraphrase in a conversational, yet professional manner (the result of practice, as per the prior slide). Your oral presentation should explain or expand upon what is on the slides; it should not reiterate the content. Title Page Start with a title page that uses the title of the DPI Project Investigator's Background What qualifies you to do this project? Credentials Experience Etc. BE VERY BRIEF. Topic Background Why this topic? History Need What needs(s) in practice does the research identify? What need will your project address and implement? You can use more than one slide to address each of the categories. Problem Statement Your problem statement should clearly and explicitly state the reasons you are doing your study. The purpose of this study is to… Importance of the project How might your project impact the field of study or health care outcomes? How could it impact your work as a professional? What else is significant? Theoretical Foundation If it is discussed in your project, include a slide on the philosophical orientation. For example: critical theory or social constructivism clinical Questions Number your questions to facilitate easy reference during discussions with the committee members. Methodology Define which major category of methodology you implemented for your project. Include your rationale as to why your chosen methodology is appropriate to your clinical questions? Cite relevant methodology literature in support of your choice of methodology. Specifics on Methodology Depending on your choice of methods, you may need to outline specifics such as (including but not limited to): Variables—PICOT Participants—number, how selected, IRB considerations, demographics Reliability and validity Methods of data collection Data analysis Limitations You may need multiple slides for these categories. References List only those cited in the DPI Project Proposal Defense presentation. One slide should be sufficient ...

Ofsted publishes a number of subject surveys every year. They look at developments in a specific subject over the previous three years, based on specialist inspectors’ visits to a range of schools. This resource has been put together to help teachers in primary schools improve teaching and learning by reflecting on the main messages from the design and technology report, Meeting technological challenges?, published in March 2011.

SLS 1000, Student Learning Success 1 UNIT V STUDY GUIDE Test Taking Strategies for Successful Learning Learning Objectives Upon completion of this unit, students should be able to: 1. Identify main causes of test anxiety 2. Analyze personal test taking strategies. 3. Identify methods to combat test anxiety. 4. Discuss objective and subjective test taking strategies. 5. Discuss the importance of a study environment and how it applies to test taking strategies. Written Lecture Test Taking Dr. Carolyn D. Corliss Certain specifications should be outlined when professors prepare a test so that they are relevant to the instruction. First, professors should use test and assessment specification as a guide. Simply put, the conditions of the test and assessment should describe the performance needed to be measured along with what learning outcomes to measure. Second, each test item and assessment task should be written so the task to be performed is clearly defined, and it measures the performance described in the intended learning outcome. If a test is written with clarity and simplicity, avoiding unnecessary wording, then the students will have an easier time taking it. Third, keeping the reading difficulty and vocabulary level simple will prevent distorted results. Students should be measured on the performance determined, not by some factor that was not designed to measure. (Miller, Linn, & Gronlund, 2009). Students should be knowledgeable on what to do and what not to do when preparing and taking a test. Preparations for the test can entail many dimensions, including: maintaining good study habits, completing and submitting assignments on time while having a clear understanding of the work expected of you, and contacting the professor if you need any additional help or clarification. Getting a good night’s sleep and eating breakfast before a test will help you stay focused (Tennessee Department of Education, 2010). Also, as a part of preparation, do not cram for the test. You have to start by planning ahead and deciding not only is this is something you need to do, but must do in order to achieve the results you anticipate. Make sure that you have everything you need for the test, i.e. computer, good test taking environment, and minimal distractions. Always make sure to read the directions and questions carefully so you know what is expected from you. Finally, when you have selected all your responses/answers, do not submit it without going back and reviewing your answers and proofing what you have written. (TeacherVision, 2010). Reading Assignment Written Lecture: Test Taking Resources Videos: Open Book Tests Test Anxiety Writing Resources: APA Resource Essay Writing Success Center Key Terms 1.
