- 5. Just like with other utensils, after
you use chopsticks for a while they
become like an extension of your
body and you don’t need to be
aware of them or think about how
you use them. However, using
chopsticks is a delicate task, and
after using them long enough you
also forget the intuitive strategies
you were using initially.
Here is just a short reminder of
those strategies that you may find
useful for other areas of your life.

- 6. Base: Hold the chopsticks so that one of
them is a base (relatively static and
quite firm) while the other one is
dynamic and flexible as needed

- 7. Targeting: Take advantage of the shape
and texture of the food (and you will be
able to do some heavy lifting)

- 8. Alignment: Align the tips of the
chopsticks and then align them on both
sides of the food

- 9. Balance: Balance the chopsticks in your
hands and then hold the food close to
its center of gravity

- 10. Sensitivity: Apply the right amount of
force (too much force is not sustainable
and causes instabilities). You may want
to set an initial force and then gradually
increase it until you feel it is sufficient.
