5. We want to accomplish these #LITmw creative tasks before December 2013.
-- Through diligent use of activity streams, promote #clonmel and #LSAD-clonmel
on List.ly, Flickr and Tumblr. Then submit a story with narrative value about time
and place.
-- Develop a 3-minute radio script explaining “Essential Technology for College
Education”.
-- Using 730 words and an activity stream, explain how you create original things.
-- Contribute to #octaver13, at least with writing and hopefully with your voice.
@topgold #LITmw
6. TASK 1.
#CLONMEL
#LSAD-
CLONMEL
First you share
-- On List.ly
-- On Flickr
-- On Tumblr
Then you spawn
-- Onto Facebook
-- Onto Flipboard
-- Onto syndicators
And you’re enshrined
-- In a showreel
-- In iTunesU
The challenge: to display
your creativity through
media text.
@topgold #LITmw
7. START WITH A TOPIC SENTENCE.
-- “I open my curtains to the streets of Clonmel
with freshly brewed tea in a warm kitchen.”
@topgold #LITmw
10. TASK 2.
#ICTEDU
#EDCHATIE
First you research.
-- #ictedu @pamelaaobrien
-- #edchatie @fboss
-- #edtech
Then you listen and watch.
-- Your essential tech.
-- Successful friends’ tech.
Answer key questions.
-- Why essential?
-- If it broke?
The challenge: to
develop a compelling
radio script.
@topgold #LITmw
13. SYNDICATE
You earn more credit
when your work is
syndicated.
With blogs like
Tumblr, it’s easy.
@topgold #LITmw
14. TASK 3.
#CREATE
1. Think about your creative
spaces.
2. What time of day is best for
your creative output?
3. What do you hear, see, smell,
taste, and feel?
4. Is there motion involved?
5. There’s value in recording
yourself.
The Anatomy of a
Creative Moment.
@topgold #LITmw
16. TASK 4.
#OCTAVER13
-- Start at bit.ly/audiog.
-- Listen to @sassycat on
Audioboo.
-- Contribute to threads on
bit.ly/audiog with comments,
images and audio.
-- Practical sessions will improve
your creative efforts.
-- The #Octaver13 playlist should
entertain.
The #octaver audio
creatives represent a
dynamic social hive.
@topgold #LITmw
17. LISTEN AND LEARN.
Community voices, like
@sassycat on Audioboo,
can help you develop
your own voice.

18. GET STUFF DONE.
Get a system that can remind
you to tick off tasks related to
your creative work.
Toodledo.com is one cross-
platform system for iOS,
Android and Blackberry. It
ports to Windows Phone too.
@topgold #LITmw
19. GET STUFF DONE.
THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT.
If you’re collaborating, you
should use tick-off lists to
help you pull your weight.
Wunderlist is a lovely iOS
app with a very snappy
mobile interface too.

This short presentation outlines the essence of major creative tasks assigned to the Media Writing module in the Limerick School of Art & Design for the fall semester of 2013. This is a short presentation to alert creative multimedia students in the Media Writing module in the Limerick School of Art & Design during the winter semester of 2013. Illustrations by LSAD students. Photos by @topgold on Flickr. For the record, I blog at www.insideview.ie, talk at audioboo.fm/topgold and share videos at youtube.com/topgold including several supporting Media Writing that I made with Camtasia Studio.

This process mirrors traditional communications principles, including creation, compression, transmission, amplifications, modulation, interference, disruption, post-processing, reimagination and retransmitting.
The topic sentence should suggest a narrative of time and place will follow.
The media text might be an image on Tumblr.
The annotated reference can be from a book, from a Kindle clipping, from a snippet of music—any form of media text.
You may collaborate on this task.
You will find people using clever tech by using Twitter lists.

Being discoverable enhances your online credibility.
I’m very findable. I blog and talk about education, technology and being a dad to a very creative couple of kids. The Google Document at http://bit.ly/mw-document01 accompanied this presentation. You can find artefacts of related student work by searching for #LSADmedia.
