  • Use to multi-tasking and Respect your time and attention. = 7.5 slides/minute = 1 slide every 8 seconds
  • If 300 slides not enough, I know Gamers. Playing games, competitive, winning. Just like in life, if you pay attention, you get prizes. At the end a chance to win.
  • For the UCI leaders who are still bored with my talk, pretend like posting, so you have an excuse to check your social media. so my feelings don’t get hurt. Quick question: RAISE YOUR HANDS if TODAY you used: FB, TW, IG, SC
  • Chose to work for them selves.
  • RAISE YOUR HANDS: Entrepreneurs? Wanna be? Join Startup? Never? Why?
  • Let’s get some answers. Freedom. Chose jobs. ULTD income. Control work. Tax benefits.
  • Can you change lives and make better world by focusing on MONEY?
  • How about, Can you change lives and make better world by focusing on POWER?
  • Focus on THANK YOU.
  • Before you MARK ZUCKERBERG, ELON MUSK. Biz plan. Pitch. Dream team. Investors. Making profit, changing the world or saving the planet. It’s really simple. You, “yes, YOU” need to be able to make a human say “THANK YOU”.
  • and now a word from our President.
  • Your success will be determined by this. It’s just like TGIF. Why is it TGIF? Your excited to leave work!!! Why? Go do something you love and you are good at...or trying to get better. For example, its the weekend and you like putting on your running shoes. I hate it...but love putting on my wetsuit. Or something super awesome is going on this weekend. Like going to play with your friends by doing fun cool stuff...stuff that you do for free, that you are most likely pretty good at? Let’s swap FRIDAY with MONDAY. What if that was your work? Think about it, you get to go play with your friends that have similar interests, doing fun cool stuff, making other people happy and your pretty good at it. Could you get to TGIM?
  • Sounds great. How will I know? I can’t predict the future. Let’s try to make it easy.
  • Which circles us back to the ultimate goal...
  • YOUR HAPPINESS.
  • Who is this?
  • What did he love to do?
  • Time person of the year 2010, 100 wealthiest in world, most influential.
  • Time person of the year 2010, 100 wealthiest in world, most influential.
  • Let’s hear for you guys...What is work? What is play? POSITIVE/NEGATIVE? Difficult? Fun? Desire? Get paid? What’s Guinness book of work records. What’s going to the moon. Fishing? When does it change?
  • Japanese from Tokyo and very strict. Pull me by my ear!
  • Leather would get lose and lose its feel. Only 3 color combos.
  • Minimum wage was $3/hour
  • All American BMX Raceway. Hows that for generic branding.
  • Worked 3 days a week, WED, FRI and SUN all through high school. Open, set up generators, electrical, lighting, prep track, set up concession stand, and my friends helped.
  • Paid to perform at local events, fairs, speedway races, half time shows, and fairs. And still running the BMX racetrack. Work was Play.
  • I was the kid, drawing, now Photoshop with Wacom tablet. We went around to neighbors asking for old spray paint cans. Just started getting in to the scene.
  • Before I could do anything with my art...
  • First thing at UCI.
  • I had a burning desire to do something more with my passion for art.
  • I listened to my Mom...be a doctor.
  • TRUE adulthood, heart, your gut, your inner voice, your spirit, your conscious. What ever you want to call it...that’s what you need to start listening too more than anything else. It’s going to guide you and it will be right. Listen DECISIONS and MEMORIES. Your decisions turn into your memories...that YOU MUST LIVE WITH FOREVER...not your parents.
  • Ok, so now I’m about to not listen to my Dad. Instead of traveling, remember that little bug I had biting me...the desire to do something with my art?
  • 7 one person exhibits, sold 35 paintings in my first year
  • Peter the Anteater.
  • UCI Athletic Director...change the attitude and image of the Athletic Department. First major re-branding project.
  • Athletes, Coaches, Students, Faculty, Staff...
  • The brand is more that a logo, it’s everything that enters your mind and heart after you see the logo.
  • I’d like to think that we at UCI have an awesome brand partly due to fact I didn’t listen to my parents :)
  • Continuing my journey that my parents didn’t approve.
  • 1996 Best of...this is when Paul Frank was an up and coming OC designer so it was tuff competition.
  • Designing apparel in Newport Beach, hiring my friends, traveling to Japan 15 times in one year, manufacturing in China, surfing every where, 15 minutes of fame on MTV, voted best fashion designer in OC Weekly, clients are happy, vendors are happy, bank is happy!
  • We are top of the world...what could go wrong?
  • Medial Thriller Pandemic? Was lesson #1 wrong? Maybe...I should have listened to my parents.
  • As an entrepreneur, every decision is your responsibility. Ups, downs and sideways. Things happen that you don’t expect and can’t plan for...but you need to OWN IT. Why, because it’s your business and this also applies to YOUR LIFE. There is no FAULT, there is no BLAME, there is only CAUSE and EFFECT. The faster you can get through the DOWN and SIDEWAYS situations the better. And here is how you deal with it, ask yourself if it is a FACT or a PROBLEM. If it is a FACT, accept it an move on, don’t dwell on it, don’t try to figure it out. Most likely, you don’t need to figure out why the sky is blue, or even how the students in Hong Kong were able to shut down government...it’s not the highest and best use of your time. However, if it is a PROBLEM, fix it, fast.
  • BELIEVING IS THE BEGINNING. This is the beginning of everything that is great in the world. It’s the seed that starts everything. I addition to it’s all on you...you also need to be the one who believes THE MOST in yourself. Every great story started with someone believing in something: an idea, a person, a product.
  • You love building brands. It’s what you do that add value to peoples lives. Just need to change my lens my perspective.
  • PLACE: New region. After 3 months. We had a new lens. Asia is down but OC was growing.
  • PRODUCT: No cash, can’t buy/build products, so focus on selling services.
  • PRODUCT TREND: .com trend was taking off. Everyone wanted to create a website.
  • PIVOT: We reinvented our selves by applying the same process we use for our clients. PASSION - ADD VALUE...and....
  • BE HAPPY. Signed up clients and were in business.
  • I know...ALL rockstar entrepreneurs who dropped out.
  • If you are as smart/lucky as them, do what ever you want. If you’re not, STAY IN SCHOOL.
  • He asked me what my EBITDA was...Remember, graduated with a degree in Biology. 36 ATP (Adenosine TriPhosphate) created during Kreb Cycle in the matrix of the Mitochondria.
  • Yes, STAY IN SCHOOL.
  • You’re MILLENNIALS THINKING BIG! AMBITIOUS! CHANGE THE WORLD, TODAY! Sell more products, more services, to every corner of the world. You can THINK BIG, but ACT SMALL....and...
  • FOCUS!!! You can’t do it all, and definitely can’t do it all very well. You can’t mean everything to everyone. You have unlimited OPPORTUNITY and LIMITED RESOURCES: time/money/energy. THE “F” WORD. FOCUS. NICHE. KNOW MORE ABOUT LESS. LESS IS MORE.
  • My team are gamers and geeks. We care. We understand. We relate. We are a part of the community.
  • 1/100th of a mm matters.
  • Fit, finish, material, color, texture.
  • Lights?
  • Brand product extension.
  • #1 selling video card in the world, #1 video gamer in the world (like having Jordan), only brand with a Tour Bus from No Doubt, on DirecTV, official video card for the CGS (NBA of video gaming, like having the official basketball for NBA), award winning products, award winning brand a campaigns!
  • We are on top of the world, gamers are happy, client, team, shareholders...what could go wrong? Sound familiar?
  • FOCUS but expect change. You can count on it. I promise you, things will change.
  • PIVOT: Reinvent ourselves again. What were we passionate about?
  • EMPATHY for the person with the problem, inconvenience,
  • Core of every business. Get rid of the pain. SOLVE THE PROBLEM. We started to develop worldly tech products that solved our personal pains!
  • We put our passion to work. We believe in AViiQ products and the industry believed in it too!
  • Because of the love and passion we put into designing and marketing our product, our customer love them too. How can a customer believe in your product if you don’t believe in it first?
  • Selling on our own ecommerce site. Peak was 2 minutes where we had 1 order every 7 seconds.
  • In keeping with expect change. The most secure investment I have made is in RE. After meeting with mentors, advisors, and even talking with the Dean at the Anderson School of Business...I hear the same thing over and over...no matter where you start, you will end up in real estate.
  • I did a quick calculation this morning, in the long term, it has been my best return on my time invested by far. If you only calculate the amount of time I spent, invest 1 minute per month writing a check (checking my auto-pay). $6788/minute.

  • What do these 4 entrepreneurs have in common? Hint, they were all in the same city during the last week in August last year.
  • This is not a lesson I can explain to you. It would be like explaining color to a blind person. You will need to research and experience it for yourself to understand why Elon Musk, P. Diddy, Mark Zuckerberg and I were all in the same city at the same time this year.
