Context
The Challenge
Time Reporting is part of the Planview standard functions. However, organizations
with extensive Time Reporting often demand higher usability of the underlying user
form.
Our Solution
Higher usability through an improved user interface for Time Reporting in MS
SharePoint without modifying the underlying Planview functionality.
How it works
• Individual SharePoint forms for Time Reporting and approval
• Access to the Planview database via webservices

Prototype Architecture

Low maintenance
Write access to the database is carried out
exclusively via webservices offered by
Planview to make sure that: a) all data
entries are updated, b) all writing is carried
out correctly, c) new software releases can
use the same Sharepoint interface.
Data security
User log into SharePoint via SSO and their
Windows account details. Every user can
only access assignments he/she is allowed
to see.

Calendar Input mask for Time Reporting
• The input mask contains all current
allocations (including beginning
and end) as well as the planned
effort for each assignment, actual
effort and remaining effort.
• Hours worked can be recorded for
each day or for a whole week;
users get notifications if the actual
effort exceeds planned effort
• Authorizations can be organized in
a separate form („favorites“)

by project.

• Color marking of status to show prioritization
