5. Generic Imitrex Tablets
What are Migraines?
Migraines are usually an intense, throbbing
pain on one, or sometimes, both sides of the
head. They are most likely to arise from
problems with the nerves and blood vessels
in the head.
A typical migraine headache is unilateral
(affecting one half of the head) and pulsating
in nature and lasting from two to 72 hours.

What are Migraines?
Besides pain, migraine symptoms can also
include nausea, vomiting and increased
sensitivity to light and sound.
Generic Imitrex is used to relieve migraine
headaches with or without aura. It also
relieves other symptoms of migrane such as
relieves other symptoms of a migraine attack
like nausea, vomiting or sensitivity to light
and sound.

Recommended Adult Dosage
The recommended starting dose of Generic
Imitrex (Suminat tablets) for adults is 50 mg.
The clinical response of individuals to Imitrex
varies.
The choice of dose should therefore be
made on an individual basis, weighing the
possible benefit of a higher dose with the
potential for a greater risk of side effects.

Warnings and Precautions
Generic Imitrex tablets should
only be used where a clear
diagnosis of migraine headache
has been established.
Sumatriptan is not indicated for
use in the management of
hemiplegic, basilar or
ophthalmoplegic migraine.

Warnings and Precautions
Following administration, sumatriptan can
be associated with transient symptoms
including chest pain and tightness which
may be intense and involve the throat.
Caution is recommended in patients
performing skilled tasks, eg. driving or
operating machinery since drowsiness may
occur as a result of migraine or its
treatment with sumatriptan.

10. Generic Imitrex Tablets
Contraindications
Imitrex tablets should not be given to patients
with history, symptoms, or signs of ischemic
cardiac, cerebrovascular, or peripheral vascular
syndromes. In addition, patients with other
significant underlying cardiovascular diseases
should not be administered Imitrex tablets.
Imitrex tablets are also contraindicated in
patients that have hypersensitivity to
sumatriptan succinate or any inactive ingredient
present in Generic Imitrex tablets. Imitrex
tablets are also contraindicated in patients with
severe hepatic impairment.

Side Effects of Generic Imitrex Tablets
The common side effects of Generic
Imitrex tablets (Suminat) are dizziness,
drowsiness, sensory disturbance
including paraesthesia and
hypoaesthesia, transient increases in
blood pressure arising soon after
treatment, flushing, dyspnoea, nausea,
vomiting, sensations of heaviness, pain,
sensations of heat or cold, pressure or
tightness, feelings of weakness, fatigue.

Side Effects of Generic Imitrex Tablets
Serious cardiac events, including some that
have been fatal, have occurred following the
use of Imitrex tablets. These side effects are
extremely rare and most have been reported
in patients with risk factors predictive of
Coronary Artery Disease (CAD).
Events reported have included coronary
artery vasospasm, transient myocardial
ischemia, myocardial infarction, ventricular
tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation.

13. Generic Imitrex Tablets
Overdosage
Patients on Generic Imitrex therapy
have received single oral doses of 140
to 300 mg without any significant
adverse effects. Volunteers during
trials have received single oral doses
of 140 to 400 mg without any serious
side effects.
