It is usually printed on low-grade, inexpensive paper such as newsprint. In India, some of the popular newspapers are the Times of India, The Hindu, Telegraph, Hindustan Times, The Indian Express.

What are Online Newspapers? ● Newspaper that exists on the World Wide Web as an online version of the printed periodical. ● Laws regarding libel, copyright and privacy also apply to these newspapers. ● Increase visibility via dedicated content browser. ● A subscription fees or other paid form is required for most of the editions.

  7. 7. Key difference An E-edition of the newspaper is actually published offline as a hard copy newspaper. It is a mirror of the hard copy publication. Web edition, on the other hand, are not produced or run in any other format apart from the Internet. They are never published as a separate version of the newspaper. E-edition tends to be less expensive, if it is subscription based. Web edition tends to be more expensive.

Advantages of Online newspapers ● The faster and cheaper readers can access anything, the better for them; real time updates. ● Most newspapers still offer free online access to most news stories covering all news stories in brief. ● Enables people to have access from any part of the world, with limited use of resources; they can pick and choose what they want to read. ● Can reach out to a wider readership with the same content; use of different devices like cell phones, tablets, notebooks, etc.

Disadvantages of Online newspapers ● Authenticity: because the news is available instantly, there is lesser time to verify the facts ● Credibility: even readers can share the news items, thereby becoming news makers themselves. There are chances of rumor spreading over the Internet. ● Popularity: page hits and readership popularity of news items on entertainment, lifestyle, page 3 news can put the hard news stories away from the search engine crawlers. ● In that way, online newspapers are redefining what’s most important news in a newspaper
