DOCSIS® 3.1 standard – branded as Gigasphere
• Since 1997 DOCSIS has been at the heart of
the cable broadband success
• Now the latest DOCSIS 3.1 standard is ready
for deployment – offers gigabit speeds like
FTTH but offers full benefit with 1.2 GHz
spectrum upgrade
• New services such as IoT, UHD, OTT and
cloud based applications will need DOCSIS 3.1
• Teleste’s compliant products and solutions
are already in use by many European Cable TV
operators

Teleste 1.2 GHz deployment reference examples
August 2014:
Teleste signs significant frame agreement with
Altice Group on access network deliveries
supporting DOCSIS 3.1 standard
March 2015:
TELENET selects Teleste for their Giga Network
project known as “de grote netwerf”.
March 2015:

1,2 GHz upgrades enabling DOCSIS 3.1 - lessons learned so far
1. Every network needs its own e2e performance study. Teleste has
been pioneering studies on DOCSIS 3.1 HFC network
performance and we are equipped with facts to find the solutions.
2. Smaller implementation margins that are especially demanding
with higher order modulation schemes (like 4096 QAM)
3. Higher load that is not just a downstream issue; new 204 MHz
upstream (up to 1024 QAM) will require excellent networks
4. Automatic and intelligent adjustments of HFC network elements
that need to be even smarter than before
5. Network monitoring and management needs to be
preventive not just reactive
6. Requirement to build networks that are flexible to adapt new
architectures such as Remote-PHY and Remote-MAC

Network management and preventive diagnostics
Intelligent products and clever NMS offers the best
result together
Preventive diagnostics ia an interesting area for new
innovations. Reactive diagnostics can be handled
often by intelligent network products.
Our new CATVisor Argus NMS architecture has been
specified for ”big data” analysis
CATVisor Argus enables integration with 3rd party
products and offers top-down GIS view of the network
Our co-operation with a leading CATV analyser vendor
Trilithic will offer several DOCSIS 3.1 analysers and
complements our wide toolbox for operators

Remote PHY and Remote MAC (a.k.a remote CCAP or C-DOCSIS)
European cable TV networks could adopt two different
DOCSIS based distributed access architectures in future:
1. Remote-PHY
2. Remote-MAC+PHY
We are proceeding on both waves:
1. Joined development with Casa Systems,
called DAN200 is for operators who will
favour Remote-PHY architecture
2. Our DOCSIS Access Hub (DAH) product family
is for operators who favor Remote-MAC+PHY
We, together with our partners are busy working to launch
DOCSIS 3.1 versions of both solutions.
Both alternatives have their pros and cons and we are keen to
offer the best possible alternative to our customers –
following the market development closely

HDU amplifier platform offers
lossless splitting and has
automatic by-pass relay for
lifeline support during outage
New LTE frequencies
overlapping with UHF band may
disturb CATV services. New 1.2
GHz indoor passives and
BarrIER® products have been
designed with this in mind
