THE 1ST INTERNATIONAL WOMEN IN BUSINESS CONVENTION (1WBC 2011)
FARIDAH A. JABBAR
CHAIRPERSON 1WBC 2011/PRESIDENT USAHANITA MALAYSIA
The First International Women in Business Convention, in short, 1WBC, is an initiative of the Malaysian Women Entrepreneurs
Association-USAHANITA, to organize this prestigious international event that brings together and connects local and international women
entrepreneurs. 1WBC will be held from the 25 to 27 October 2011 at the Melaka International Trade Centre located at the World Heritage
UNESCO City, Malaysia.
The convention is divided into two components: the Business Trade Fair and the Conference. The theme for this convention is Transforming
Women’s Businesses through Innovations. Expect to interact and transact business with 500 entrepreneurs from around the world who will
showcase their products and services under the 3Bs broad categories of Beauty, Brain & Bravery and to be visited by 100,000 members of
the public and traders. As for the conference, it will be attended by 1000 enthusiastic entrepreneurs who will share best business practices and
forged strategic global networking.
These golden opportunities must not be missed by women or even men entrepreneurs as the convention provides a platform for global strategic
collaborations through the myriad of planned activities such as the trade exhibitions, business presentations, product demonstrations, business
matching and signings, business forums and luncheon talks. It also promises to bring together producers, inventors, traders, buyers, suppliers
of products and services that may complete your supply chain requirement made available under one roof. Through the networking and
engagements with other entrepreneurs, USAHANITA through this maiden initiative hopes that entrepreneurs and businesses participating in this
convention may even forge regional or global cooperation that can assist in the expansion of markets or even businesses, regionally or globally.
We are proud to announce that 1WBC2011 will be officiated by Her Excellency Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, the wife of the Prime
Minister. Her Excellency will also deliver the keynote address with a theme: “TRANSFORMING WOMEN IN BUSINESS THROUGH INNOVATION,
TECHNOLOGY & NETWORKING”. With her gracing the event, this makes the convention most exciting as Her Excellency is seen not only in
Malaysia and ASEAN but the world over, as one of the most able First Lady that has contributed significantly towards promoting many great
innovative ideas to develop the Nation and also in many ways, has inspired the Women of Malaysia to do the same. Hence, her willingness to
officiate this Convention will certainly make significant differences as envisaged. This will in turn, set the tone and the pace of this Convention
in years to come.
With the support and involvements from YAB Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, The Chief Minister of Malacca World Heritage UNESCO
State Government, the Government of Malaysia through its Ministries, its many agencies, the Government Linked Companies, Multinational
Corporations, Local Businesses, Embassies, NGOs, Partners, Women Entrepreneurs of the world, Sponsors and individuals, this 1WBC2011 will
surely be the event that creates great opportunities and benefits for participating parties, traders and the public.

and connect together local, as well as, international entrepreneurs.
1WBC shall then be made a bi-annual event. USAHANITA will pass the baton of organizing this event to
another similar fraternity of a participating nation to continue the tradition of hosting the International Women
in Business Convention (1WBC).
The primary objective of this year 1WBC is to create a platform for women entrepreneurs to gather new ideas
and knowledge to innovate their business endeavors, to explore new business opportunities, to form strategic
business networking, to share and exchange business ideas among them.
In line with the theme of this year 1WBC, TRANSFORMING WOMEN’S BUSINESSES THROUGH INNOVATIONS,
