Prophecies came in the old times by Holy men as they were moved of God: 2Peter 2:21 "For the
prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved
by the Holy Ghost." It seems today, that some ancient calendar from Maya Land is being given
undo respect, for all other prophets were held to much higher standards.
1. Take Jeremiah's prophecy concerning Babylon, for instance. When he prophesied that the
Babylonian captivity of Israel would last a total of only 70 years, his words were penned down in
Jerusalem and read by Daniel in Babylon. When Daniel read them, he realized that the Jewish
nation only had a few more years of captivity to go, and they would be free to return to Israel. His
prophecy came true exactly as he said. Of course, he had help. It was God who gave it to him. But
this Maya prophecy thing has no base. It is unfounded, in that, no definite date is specified for a
specific event... only the speculation that since a calendar ends, so does civilization. Well, if that's
your point, their civilization ended centuries ago, way off their date of December 2012.
2. Take the prophecy of the birth of Christ by Isaiah. Isaiah 9:6 states: "For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be
called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
Amazing! That The Mighty God himself would become a man and walk among us as a man. And
that prophecy was fulfilled exactly as given...Not like this Mayan myth. They don't prophecy the
end...only that their calendar was unfinished.
3. Take Isaiah's prophecy about the Virgin Birth of our Savior, Jesus: Isaiah 7:14 "Behold, a virgin
shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Of course, Immanuel means,
"God with us." Mary, the earthly mother of Jesus, knew no man before the birth of Christ, but
rather, she was "with child" by the Holy Ghost of God, thus fulfilling prophecy. Those prophecies
had to be fulfilled, and fulfilled exactly, or else they were proven false. True prophets are held up
to a higher standard. Mayan mysteries are not even close to the same level, for they are not exact
in nature when given, and spurious in nature when expected to be fulfilled.
You see, a prophet and a prophecy must be held "To the letter".
Only the Bible has such a track record, for its prophets "spake as they were moved by the Holy
Ghost" and its author is divine.
