 The project failed in Peru regarding using the full potential of ICT4D
and regarding olpc‘s principles
 BUT many people got access to resources they would have never
been able to access without the XO

Prepare little notes about the TEL project
2) Present shortly the TEL project and add the notes to the map

• How is TEL integrated in the school system in your country?
• Is TEL accepted in primary, secondary and higher education?
• Comparison of approaches and attempts of successful TEL
• TEL acceptance
• Different ways of getting along with TEL among generations

Wrap up
• MOOCs entered educational systems and influence teaching and
contents (reported from an example in Israel)
• Distance learning projects for remote areas (reported from Croatia)
• High-end ICT projects in educational systems (reported from Estonia)
• Very poor ICT infrastructure in most of the countries (Germany,
Austria, Russia, Croatia, Sahara, Nepal, …)
• Centralisim influences highly TEL adaptation aspects (reported from
Russia)
• Some projects belong to political issues with a political commitment
Other topics for discussion
• What can we learn from the youngest?
• How do they (naturally) use technology to enhance and facilitate their
learning process?
• Why does it need so much effort to convince and teach most of the
older ones how to integrate technology in their teaching?
• Don’t we try to make something fit in our “adult world” what already
runs well among the younger ones?
• Why are students often not allowed to use their mobile devices in
class?
• Do we really have to disconnect school from reality of students?

  • 6. olpc – One Laptop per Child • Vision • Mission • Deployment • Educational vs laptop project  The project failed in Peru regarding using the full potential of ICT4D and regarding olpc‘s principles  BUT many people got access to resources they would have never been able to access without the XO

Wrap up • MOOCs entered educational systems and influence teaching and contents (reported from an example in Israel) • Distance learning projects for remote areas (reported from Croatia) • High-end ICT projects in educational systems (reported from Estonia) • Very poor ICT infrastructure in most of the countries (Germany, Austria, Russia, Croatia, Sahara, Nepal, …) • Centralisim influences highly TEL adaptation aspects (reported from Russia) • Some projects belong to political issues with a political commitment

Other topics for discussion • What can we learn from the youngest? • How do they (naturally) use technology to enhance and facilitate their learning process? • Why does it need so much effort to convince and teach most of the older ones how to integrate technology in their teaching? • Don’t we try to make something fit in our “adult world” what already runs well among the younger ones? • Why are students often not allowed to use their mobile devices in class? • Do we really have to disconnect school from reality of students?
