Consumer protection regulations aim to protect consumers' interests by requiring businesses to disclose detailed product information, especially regarding safety. Consumer protection is linked to consumer rights and consumer organizations that help consumers make informed choices. Consumers lack knowledge of their rights under laws like the Consumer Protection Act of 1986 and acts governing food, goods, contracts, and weights/measures. Consumer responsibilities include buying standardized goods, following product instructions safely, carefully reading labels, asking for receipts, and respecting the environment. Consumer rights include safety, being informed, choice, being heard, seeking redressal, and education.
