E-Postbrief to become part of Europe’s largest corporate
network
SAP integrates E-Postbrief into its business platform using SAP
Information Interchange by Crossgate
Advantages for companies: Optimized processes and reduced costs
SAP customer EDEKA implements E-Postbrief for data exchange with
suppliers starting in August
Bonn, July 28, 2011 SAP is integrating the SAP Information Interchange by Crossgate
solution with the E-Postbrief into its business platform. The move means that
Crossgate AG will link more than 40,000 companies worldwide and includes
companies such as Audi, BMW, BASF and Continental. The Business-Ready Network
enables complete integration between business partners, customers and suppliers who
want to exchange process data electronically via digital media in industry-established
formats.
The E-Postbrief can be integrated seamlessly into our time-tested, successful solutions
portfolio,” says Michael Kleinemeier, Regional President DACH1, SAP Deutschland AG
& Co. KG. The service delivers clear advantages for all business partners: there is no
need to scan or type letters and faxes; there is a direct link to the enterprise resource
system and up-to-the-minute stock and order quantity information is always available.
Michael Kleinemeier: "The results are optimized end-to-end-processes, because this is
how communication needs to function."
The EDEKA group is implementing E-Postbrief from Deutsche Post to communicate
electronically with their suppliers. By that solution, EDEKA expects more efficient
ordering and billing processes as well as significant cost savings. "With E-Postbrief, we
can now reach 100 percent of our suppliers electronically - it represents an enormous
advantage for everyone," explains Dr. Reinhard Schütte, Board member at EDEKA
AG.

2. Integrating the E-Postbrief into SAP technology, Deutsche Post aims for an increasing
penetration into the B2B sphere. "This strategic partnership has allowed us to secure
an infrastructure for additional innovative, profitable business models for our E-
Postbrief," says Ralph Wiegand, Member of the Mail Divisional Board of Deutsche
Post.
The E-Postbrief will be integrated into the EDEKA group's existing electronic
communications platform (B2B). The system is based on SAP's Information
Interchange by Crossgate solution. Munich-based Crossgate AG operates one of the
leading B2B communications platforms. EDEKA employs the Crossgate B2B service to
process activities with their suppliers such as ordering, shipment confirmation and
billing electronically. The previous connection to the B2B platform required the retail
giant's business partners to have EDI capabilities. The link required technical and
organizational investments, which made it an impractical option, particularly for small
companies. That meant that the sending and receiving of purchase orders, order
confirmations and invoicing continued to be processed via mail and fax in many cases.
The E-Postbrief communications platform will now be expanded in an effort to ensure
that all communication between EDEKA and their partners is digital.
Now with the new, secure, convenient digital medium, even small suppliers can
exchange information and data directly using the EDEKA B2B platform. Connecting to
the platform is simple: Suppliers who already have an E-Postbrief address can
immediately start processing orders and billing transactions with the EDEKA group
electronically. Those who do not yet have an E-Postbrief address can simply register
for one on the E-Postbrief customer portal and can start communicating with EDEKA
immediately. All of the necessary process forms are provided during the registration
process. And E-Postbrief's regular functionality naturally works for all companies,
private customers and public authorities.
