The Mission Beach Film Festival presents a diverse program of films, shorts and documentaries
that celebrate and encourage the human desire to nurture fragile environments and cultures.
Lying between World Heritage Rainforest, The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and island studded
      MISSION BEACH
      FILM FESTIVAL
Coral Sea, Mission Beach is recognised as a unique community in a unique landscape. The Mission
Beach Film Festival is a distinctive cultural event that educates, entertains and inspires audiences to
sustain the natural world we live in.

Storytelling through film is arguably the most powerful communication tool we have today.
We use cinema to tell stories of the world within which we live and that which we observe.

Mission Beach sits at the gateway to two of the worlds most precious treasures,
The Great Barrier Reef and a backdrop of the World Heritage Wet Topics rainforest,
teeming with natural beauty and precious animals.

The MBFF will reinforce and further promote the strong underlying values in Mission Beach
and surrounding areas.

The MBFF has the opportunity to create a unique event not just in Queensland but in Australia.
This festival will encourage the telling of stories that help us to better understand the world in
which we live and will connect audiences to experiences from around the world that speak to
how communities and individuals connect with the environment and each other.

While the economic benefits for a successful event speak for themselves, there are other benefits to the
region. The MBFF has the ability to grow a regional screen culture and to foster creative storytelling talent
from not just Mission Beach but across Queensland and Australia.

The overarching goal is to create a high quality program that becomes an iconic and ongoing
annual event.

We believe that it is feasible to create an ongoing event that will attract visitors and film-makers to both
participate in and attend the event.

MISSION BEACH FILM FESTIVAL 6 & 7 NOVEMBER, 2009 THe vision The Mission Beach Film Festival presents a diverse program of films, shorts and documentaries that celebrate and encourage the human desire to nurture fragile environments and cultures. Lying between World Heritage Rainforest, The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and island studded MISSION BEACH FILM FESTIVAL Coral Sea, Mission Beach is recognised as a unique community in a unique landscape. The Mission Beach Film Festival is a distinctive cultural event that educates, entertains and inspires audiences to sustain the natural world we live in. Storytelling through film is arguably the most powerful communication tool we have today. We use cinema to tell stories of the world within which we live and that which we observe. Mission Beach sits at the gateway to two of the worlds most precious treasures, The Great Barrier Reef and a backdrop of the World Heritage Wet Topics rainforest, teeming with natural beauty and precious animals. The MBFF will reinforce and further promote the strong underlying values in Mission Beach and surrounding areas. The MBFF has the opportunity to create a unique event not just in Queensland but in Australia. This festival will encourage the telling of stories that help us to better understand the world in which we live and will connect audiences to experiences from around the world that speak to how communities and individuals connect with the environment and each other. While the economic benefits for a successful event speak for themselves, there are other benefits to the region. The MBFF has the ability to grow a regional screen culture and to foster creative storytelling talent from not just Mission Beach but across Queensland and Australia. The overarching goal is to create a high quality program that becomes an iconic and ongoing annual event.
