diction. In order to exemplify my writing, I eliminated all expletives (except for the ones used in
direct quotes) from my paper. I only found one expletive ("there were") and it was after the word
that in the below sentence. My original sentence read, "By using a well known historical event ––
the Holocaust –– King illustrates his point that there were unjust laws placed on Jews during the

English 101 Goals
When I started out the year I had three goals when it came to English 101. The first of my goals
was that I was going to try and make a good grade in the class so I did not have to take it again and
move to 102 to be caught up with my friends. I did not accomplish this goal because I have been
trying very hard but obviously it just was not enough. My second goal was for me to try hard no
matter what and make my parents proud. I did accomplish this one to a point I did try my hardest
but I probably have disappointed my parents for not doing good in the class the first time around.
My final goal was to make new friends when doing peer reviews. I have accomplished this goal I
have made friend with Madison, and Ethan this year during peer review day. Revising has never
really been my strongest point when it comes to writing papers. Usually when I would write papers
whether it would be in high school or even for myself I would just turn it in the way it was and not
even attempt to revise the paper and would get good grades on them. Even if I would revise them
then all I would check is the word placement and commas to see if they all were correct and then

I looked for grammar to start out with which took a little while because I had to check the
punctuations and commas and see if they were placed right. Then I checked to see if all the
words were spelled right and see if I was missing any words that would make a sentence better
within a paragraph. After all of this was done then I went back to see if there were any quotes that

Revising a paper literally means to "renew again", to look for something fresh in critical
perspective. Revision is an ongoing process of rethinking the paper: reconsidering the arguments,

perspective. At first, I thought revision was just fixing commas, grammar and spelling, but no,
fixing minor errors like grammar, spelling and punctuation are called, proofreading. Proofreading

Do you think that revision is necessary to identify problems within the paper that you have written?
When I first re–read my submission from January I was disappointed with the quality that the
paper held. At the beginning of the semester I felt as if my work was not perfect but slightly
above average. After completing this semester and revising my paper from the beginning of the
semester I have realized that above average was not a true representation of my work. It would not

Rection In Writing : A Reflection On Improvement
A Reflection on Improvement Before entering into this class, I thought that I had an adequate
skill in writing essays. However, as I started writing papers for this class I began to notice that my
ability to write an essay needed a great deal of improvement. At the beginning of the class I was not
even able to distinguish the difference between editing and revising, however, I soon learned the
difference. Throughout my learning experience this semester I have been able to gain valuable
knowledge on how to revise my essays and this newfound knowledge helped me learn how to use

was graded and returned to me with many errors marked. This rough draft was covering the topic

Revision Narrative
One of the biggest change I made was changing the narrator of the story. I decided to change it to
a third person narrator to give myself more flexibility in terms of description because I felt like
the first person narrator limited what I was able to describe. However, writing in the third person
also proved to be challenging. The different POV changed the tone and voice of the story. Plus I
couldn't decide on which girl was the main protagonist of the story. As I delved into both girls' mind

Making revision to my rough draft was difficult but a rewarding task. At times I felt like I needed
a break from my paper and I did take many breaks. Taking breaks is understandable however when
an individual take breaks try to keep in mind the timeframe in which you need in order to complete

don't worry. First, I want to share my personal experience with you. I was also a BP student, like
many of you. When I was taking the BP course, I read many my classmates' essays. And these

You might wonder how this is possible. I still could talk. However, "voice' has two different
meanings. In physical, the voice means the sound that human beings make. Like talking, singing and
laughing. In writing, the voice is more complicated to understand. When you show your thinking
through your writing, voice means your ideas. Also, it's not just copying other's ideas. As Grant
(2016) says, writing voice is people's special personality, and it can reflect who the person is (p.117).
When I was taking the writing course, I realized that I always write like robots. And
teacher–students journals helped me a lot. For example, it helped me build confidence and generate
ideas. And I start to believe I have the ability to remain a strong voice in any language. That's why I
said 'Re–find'. This word means find again. When we were writing in our native language, we were

important part. Some problems students find include word repetition, and when students don't face
the problems, they may replace the offending words with synonyms (Haar & Horning, 2006). When
teachers reviewed my early drafts on past papers especially in writing classes, I found the process
overwhelming. In previous writing classes I have used word repetition and synonyms in my papers.
Revision means correcting repetition, better word usage, and to recognize synonyms aren't always
good word replacements with draft revisions. Using synonyms means adding a replacement word

When it comes to my paper, my revision process was different from my papers article. The first
thing I did was self–edit/ revision. I started with ten pages, and I edited it down to 8pages. With the
peer review, Nick provided me with his great opinion, and that helped me take out redundant

narrow down my page numbers to 4pages. After the office hours, I worked extensively to

What I Learned From The Revision
Looking back As human beings we try to achieve perfection, and when we look back on previous
works we find what wasn 't right and fix it; however we might look at a project later and the cycle
repeats and repeats. In other words, revision is never over. Kind of depressing, right? But, the
sooner we accept our fate as eternal revisers, the better off we will be. What I learned from the
revision is that there is always room for improvement. For the final essay, I made global revisions
like: structuring, adding details, deleting senses, and adding sentences. I also made some local
revisions like: grammar, fixing typos, and fixing strange sentences. Revision is necessary to
make an essay better and is a chance to make brave changes that you were not willing to address
in the beginning. I am a more humble student now that I've accepted that revision is grueling,
endless, and necessary. Again, depressing, but also true. The local revisions that I made in the

my work. As I come to the end of the semester and reflect on my work in your English 112 class, I
can see how I improved as a writer. English 112 has taught me many things and has helped me

There are three main reasons why flashcards are an effective learning style. Using flashcards
engages active recall. When I look at one side of a flashcard and think of the answer on the
opposite side, I will be engaging my mental faculty, an action which is called active recall. This
process will cause me to remember or attempt to remember the concept from scratch rather than
simply staring at the passage in the textbook or recognizing it on a multiple choice quiz. The active
recall will create a stronger neuron connections for the memory trace and because flashcards can
easily facilitate repetition, it's the best way to create multiple memory–enhancing recall events.(

Revision is the key for most great writers. Before submitting an official paper, revision should be
the final step because revising and editing your paper can help you find small mistakes that you
didn't pick up on before. Revision is different from proofreading, proofreading focuses more on

I had struggled a lot on clarification that led you to put several comments about it. I want to know
how to be clear for any reader without being repetitive. I feel that I see myself leaning towards
being vague because I feel that if I explained my argument more, it would just lead to
repetitiveness. Another question I have in regarding to revision is that I don't know how to
minimize my quote because I feel as if what all of the quote is saying is very important for my
argument. How can I minimize it so that the quote does not become a block quote? I believe that
