Evaluation question two

  1. 1. •I FEEL THAT WE DID EFFECTIVELY USE A COMBINATION BETWEEN A MAIN PRODUCT AND THE OTHER ANCILLARY TEXT WORKS WELL THE TEXT ALL HAVE ONE THEME AND THAT IS THE BRICK WALL A SYMBOL OF WORKING CLASS AND BRITISH HOUSING ON THE BACKGROUND THIS HELPS SHOW A BRAND ACROSS THE THREE TYPES OF MEDIA, OUR DIGI-PACK, POSTER AND VIDEO. THE WAY THEY LINKED TOGETHER USING SYNERGY. THE USE OF JARVIS COCKER HE APPEARS ON ALL THREE HEAVILY HOWEVER IN THE MUSIC VIDEO HE DOESN’T FEATURE TILL THE END WHICH COULD BE SEEN AS A PROBLEM BUT I FEEL THAT THE BRAND IS STRONGLY PUT OVER EVEN IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME.
  2. 2. •WHEN IT CAME TO THE ADVERT WE USED THE SAME POSTER THAT APPEARED IN THE MUSIC VIDEO AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE THIS WAS SO THAT IT WAS THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE READER WHEN THEY LOOKED AT IT, WE CHOSE TO LIST SOME OF THE MOST POPULAR SONGS ON THE ADVERT TO SELL THE ALBUM TO THE READER WHICH WAS A CONVENTION WE FOUND USED IN MANY OTHER ADVERTS. WE HAD A LARGE PICTURE OF THE LEAD SINGER OF OUR VERSION OF PULP IN THE BLACK AND WHITE THIS WAS ONE FOR TWO REASONS ONE FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES AND HE IS THE LEAD OF THE BAND BUT ALSO A HOMAGE TO THE ORIGINAL ALBUM ARTWORK WHERE THE BAND MEMBERS APPEARED IN BLACK AND WHITE.
  3. 3. • ALL OF OUR MEDIA PRODUCTS REVOLVE HEAVILY AROUND THE BAND AND THEIR SONGS, REINFORCING THE IMAGE AND THEIR STATUS AS A WORKING CLASS INDIE PLATFORM OF EVERYDAY ISSUES. AS SEEN ON OUR DIGI-PAK ON THE PANEL WITH THE POCKET CONTENT OF A WORKING CLASS COMMUTER. WITH THE COLOUR SCHEME OF THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE OF THE UNION JACK AND ICONIC BRITISH IMAGE. THE FACT THERE IS ONLY £7.30 IN THE POCKET ISN’T MASSES OF MONEY WITH A TESCO AND UNDERGROUND TICKET WHICH REFERENCES THE SHOPPING SCENE IN THE VIDEO AND THE TRAVELING THEME IN OTHER PULP SONGS AS WELL AS THE CLOTHES TICKETS BEING OUT OF THE SPENDING LIMIT OF THE POCKET OF MONEY THEY HAVE. THIS REPRESENTING THE STRUGGLE OF THE WORKING CLASS AS SEEN IN THE MUSIC VIDEO THEY ENTER THE SHOP YET DON’T BUY ANYTHING.
  4. 4. •THE DATE OF RELEASE CAN BE SEEN AT THE BOTTOM WHICH LINKS TO THE FACT OF IT BEING ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY AS WELL AS WHAT PLATFORMS IT WOULD BE REALISED ON WE CHOSE A HARD AND DIGITAL COPY TO APPEAL TO FANS OLD AND NEW AND ALLOW IT TO BE PLAYED ON MOST MEDIA PLAYERS. ONE WAY I FEEL THAT IT DOESN’T COMBINED REALLY WELL IS IN THE POSTER DOESN’T ADVERTISE THE DIGI-PACK ONLY FOCUSES ON THE ALBUM NOT THE EXTRAS WHICH IS SOMETHING I’D CHANGE IF I COULD ALSO THE RETRO THEME THAT IS SEEN IN THE VIDEO ISN’T REALLY REFLECTED ANYWHERE ELSE WHICH I FEEL WE COULD HAVE LOOKED INTO MORE.
