4. When researching the various magazine covers I noticed that one of the most important conventions was the colour that was used. This example is of the Joker promoting the new Batman film, The Dark Knight. The colours used all blend in and compliment each other- the green and purple writing matches the colour of his clothes, the colour has been thought about a lot and this is shown because the text colour even matches his socks. I think that this is one of the best magazine covers that Empire has produced due to the colour and layout of all the text. As well as this the picture is very strong and bold. Colour

5. Another Empire magazine that I really like was the one made to promote Hellboy 2 because it is such as powerful image and the colour works so well with it. It has all the conventions that it should contain and has an excellent layout. This magazine cover looks so clean and perfect. The colour used is red and black, the colour of the picture forces Empire to make everything blend together. Also, there needs to be another colour so the writing can be seen, this text colour is white and it works really well. Finally, the masthead has been edited really well, and it makes the magazine stand out. Another positive that I can see from this cover is that it will stand out on the magazine shelf in a shop and because such strong colours and pictures are used it will appeal to people passing by and force them to look. 6. Conclusion After looking at all the different magazines available I believe, that an Empire magazine cover would be best for our film because what I have seen from their covers is very impressive and memorable. Also the research I have done for other magazine covers will aid the production of our magazine front cover because the layout and conventions I have looked at show what is required and MUST be put onto the cover. I think that the Empire magazines in particular have had a big impact on what I want on our films front cover. The colour will be very well coordinated so that everything matches and it will make the front cover look professional because that’s what we want to achieve. As well as this we will have a photo shoot with the main cast in order to have a picture that stands out and lets people know what is in this issue of Empire. We will also need to include other conventions: masthead, plug, website, cover line, date, price, issue number and barcode etc.
