The Environmental Issue
    Dingoes
• Australian's only native dog.
• A pure-bred adult dingo, standing more than 60cm high and weighing
about 15kg, is slightly smaller than a German shepherd.

• Their main meals are Australia's small native mammals, but they also eat
  farm stock (sheep and cattle).

• They hunt at night on their own.

• Dingoes don’t bark, they howl.

                         I drew this!
Where the issue is occurring.
• Dingoes are mainly found in the outback
• There are many dingoes found where I live that is why I have
  chosen this issue.
                                                       I live here!!
I interviewed my

                   Here is a
Tasmanian tiger • It costs money to employ people,
that was made to bait, hunt and build fences to

                                       keep dingoes away from livestock.
                   years ago!
What can/is being done about the
             issue?
     1080 baiting. Employing doggers.

                     They put
                     poison in They hunt
                     the meat. dingoes

                            Building fences.

                                               To stop
                                               dingoes
                                               killing
                                               stock.
1080 Baiting – Employing Building
This is when meat Doggers – fences–
is poisoned and it is Farmers employ Fences are built to
planted for dingoes people to kill keep out dingos
to eat. This kills Dingos. They use from stock. They
them but its dogs, guns and must be very high
dangerous for traps with dead roo and made from
   native animals. etc. wire and
                                                  wood/steel
                                                   pickets.
What impact is this having?

It costs $5.4
million a year
  to control
   dingoes

            1080 baiting is the best
            way to control this issue
             because it is the most
              cost effective control
             and the most practical
Conclusion
• On the Property I live on (Terrick Terrick) we
  sometimes find Dingoes.
• I have learned that we could build a high
fence or use 1080 baiting to stop dingoes
  attacking stock especially our calves.
