2. The High Performance Development Programme Beach Volleyball/ Volleyball (HPDP) mission is to provide quality training opportunities and pathways for talented athletes.
4. High Performance Development Programme Elite Squad OBJECTIVE Functions as an integral part of and feeder squad to the Volleyball New Zealand National Indoor and Beach Volleyball programmes. Squad members train exclusively with a goal of representing New Zealand in Beach Volleyball or Indoor Volleyball. All Elite athletes are expected to compete annually on the New Zealand Beach Volleyball Tour and the New Zealand Club Championships as well as Volleyball New Zealand Age Group Championships. 12-18 Athletes will be selected with up to 4 hrs training a week over a 12 month programme. CONDITIONING COMPONENT From October 2010 a conditioning component has been added to the Elite programmes. Athletes will get conditioning advice and injury recovery support. 16. High Performance Development Programme Development Squad OBJECTIVE Provide an opportunity for physically gifted individuals to be introduced to the sport of Volleyball and "fast-tracked" in the development of basic skills. Athletes are sourced from the School Volleyball programmes, but also maybe identified through open trials and advertisement in the sporting community. HPDP Development Squad members are invited to participate in the squad upon successfully meeting the physical criteria set out by the HPDP Volleyball Coaches. Age group is focused around 14-18 but may include athletes outside of this range. 12-36 Athlete to be selected. Athlete are expected to participate in Regional and some national events.
