Juniors and Seniors can take only the amount of
classes allowed in a typical high school day.
The state will not pay for students to take a full load
of courses at high school and more at college.
The college and high school counselors use a formula
to determine how many college classes the student
can take in a day.

Editor's Notes
Tell about spring deadline too, but encourage June to be safe…March 30th is still deadline to tell HS.
Can be used for hs credit too but you must let the high school know that you are doing that before the class starts and then ask for a transcript to be sent to high school once class is completed. Will not happen automatically.
These are DIFFERENT – looser admissions criteria than is required for PSEO B or CIE but still need to place into the course!
Do not have to just take math, science, english, social studies, etc…can take courses for fun like dance, scuba, computer gaming etc…almost any course you wish if you qualify…
There may be additional courses that might not be appropriate for a freshman or sophomore (or even juniors) based on high school graduation requirements and college degree requirements and students may be advised to wait to take those courses later. At the high school sites, some courses will be offered to upperclassmen first…
All students must take entire COMPASS assessment for placement into courses and as part of entrance requirements for the PSEO programs or submit ACT or SAT scores instead. Refer to ACT scores in packet when discussing Compass too.
Some schools will use the application itself as the “intent form” .
If your child is in 8th grade, section 2 of the application will be completed by the HIGH School counselor. Get the 7th and 8th grade transcript at the middle school but take to high school for completion.
Presenter- ask high school counselor you are presenting at to tell you the deadline date they are giving to students.
Even though LCCC might allow a student to participate in spring if the app is turned in by October 15th, the district can still say no if you haven’t indicated you wanted to participate by March 30th!!!
PSEO orientations will be held at Midpoint, Wellington Center and at main campus
Give ACT scores/ point out sheet in packet… If you are not taking ACT by June 8th
Once you have received an approval letter in the mail and tested you can meet with an academic advisor to schedule or go over test results or both.
