This document provides an overview and introduction to resources available through the State Library of Victoria, including:
- The ergo website which provides education resources linked to the VELS curriculum.
- The SLV catalogue which contains bibliographic details and links to digitized items from the collection. Subject searches can be restricted to online resources.
- Historypin, an interactive map that allows overlaying historical photos onto modern street views.
- iPad/iPhone apps like 360 to take panoramic photos for use in Historypin.
- Screencasts on the slavbrightideas YouTube channel demonstrating how to use Historypin.

the catalogue record for each
item,

The record will contain all
bibliographic details,
background/description of the
item, and the subjects that it has
been catalogued in.
Subjects are hyperlinked
to searches for other items
in that subject set,

Once you have searched for a
subject, we recommend that you
restrict your search to online
resources so you can use them
remotely.
You can do this from at the top
of the search results, or under
the ‘Show only’ heading in the
left column

The Historypin website is produced in partnership with Google and works best
on Google Chrome

It is an interactive Google

pin content, including
historical photos and
overlays onto modern
streetview.

13. iPad and iPhone apps
Historypin is available as a free iPad or iPhone app.
For taking modern day streetview pictures to overlay onto Google streetview, we
recommend an app to take panoramic photos. There are many free apps available
for this, eg. 360.
