These slides are for my 5-year old's birthday party. Slides 1-2 were a booklet handed out at the beginning. Slides 5-38 were laminated as couplets and hung around the yard in relevant locations. Slides 39-52 were posted at activity stations.
This document provides instructions for a lesson on Native American cultural regions. Students will analyze artifacts on placards, use maps to hypothesize which region it represents, and take notes in a chart. The lesson will be done in groups with the teacher modeling the first steps. Students are expected to complete their Indian packet for homework and study for a quiz on Friday.
Bahian candomble and the quest for the really realolopa2
This introduction discusses the author's field notes from a night during Bahian carnival, where he experienced a revelatory moment that seemed to encapsulate "what it is all about." It raises two questions: what was revealed, and how such revelations are mediated when expressed through academic writing. It then provides context on Candomblé, the Afro-Brazilian religion studied, and the ambivalence its community feels about the extensive outside attention it has received over a century, which has led to ongoing interpretation and definition of the religion by outsiders.
God created the heavens and the earth in a specific order over six days. On each day, God created different aspects of the natural world and populated it. God created humanity, both male and female, on the sixth day and instructed them to cultivate relationships with nature and each other. God rested on the seventh day, making it the Sabbath. God's ultimate goal in creation and redemption is the restoration of shalom, or peace, through restoring communion between humanity and God.

Fire rainbows, also known as circumhorizontal arcs, are rare optical phenomena caused by the refraction of sunlight through hexagonal ice crystals in high-level cirrus clouds. They occur when the sun is at an elevation of 58 degrees or greater and sunlight enters the horizontally aligned ice crystals at a specific angle, causing the light to separate into visible color bands. The conditions required to see fire rainbows are precise, and they are typically only visible between certain latitudes during the summer months.

The interactive simulation transported students back in time to the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Students took on the identities of actual convention delegates and participated in the debates around issues like representation in Congress and the Three-Fifths Compromise. Over three phases, they opened the convention, debated key issues, and finally signed the finalized Constitution. The simulation aimed to help students understand the challenges the delegates faced and reasons why some delegates did versus did not ultimately sign the founding document.
