Date/Day 24th February, 2015 / Tuesday Class 2 Dinamik Time 11.00 a.m – 12.00 p.m Enrolment 23 pupils Focus Reading Other skill Listening & Speaking Theme World of Self, Family and Friends Topic Unit 5 I am Special Previous Knowledge Pupils have learnt the story of The White Radish. Learning standards 2.3.1 Able to read simple texts with guidance: a) fiction 2.2.3 Able to read and understand simple sentences in linear and non-linear texts. 3.1.1 Able to write in neat legible print: a) words Learning outcomes By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. read the story entitled ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ with the correct pronunciation, stress and intonation. ii. complete the sentences by filling in the blanks with the information from the story. iii. perform a ‘Reader’s Theater’ in groups.
  2. STAGES CONTENT TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES NOTES Set Induction (5minutes) Little Red Riding Hood costumes and props. Sample of Questions: 1. Can you guess who am I? 2. What is the story that you will learn today? 3. Can anyone guess what is inside the basket? Expected answers: 1. Little Red Riding Hood. 2. Little Red Riding Hood. 3. Any relevant answers. 1. Teacher comes to the class wearing Little Red Riding Hood costumes and props. 2. Teacher asks pupils to guess what the character of the costume is. 3. Pupils guess the character. 4. Teacher asks questions to pupils. 5. Pupils answer. 6. Teacher introduces the topic. Materials: Costumes, props MI: Kinesthetic Spatial CCTS: Making prediction Guessing Presentation (15 minutes) Read Aloud with Actions *Teacher focuses on pupils’ pronunciation. Sample of questions: 1. What is the story about? 2. What are the characters in the story? 3. Why Granma has big eyes? 4. How can Little Red Riding Hood know that the Granma is a Wolf? 5. Is it a good thing for you to feed hungry animals? Why? Expected answers: 1. Teacher shows the story of Little Red Riding Hood. 2. Teacher reads the story. 3. Teacher uses the puppets while reading aloud. 4. Teacher asks the pupils to repeat after teacher. 5. Teacher reads the text with actions. 6. Teacher asks pupils to read the text with action. 7. Teacher asks any difficult word. 8. Teacher goes through each sentence. 9. Teacher brainstorms the text. 10. Teacher asks questions to pupils. Pupils listen to teacher’s instructions. 3. Pupils start completing the tasks. 4. Pupils discuss the answers with teacher. 5. Pupils randomly selected by teacher to write the answer. 6. Pupils write the answer on board. 7. Pupils read the sentences. Pupils work in groups of four or five. 2. Pupils listen to teacher’s instructions. 3. Pupils watch teacher’s demonstration. 4. Pupils practice in their group for 3 minutes. 5. Pupils get ready to perform their Reader’s Theater. 6. Group A starts the Reader’s Theater. 7. It continues to the last group. 8. Pupils are guided by teacher.
