ADDRESS TO THE TESOL-UKRAINE COMMUNITY:
I am applying for the position because together with me there are such nominees as:
Lilia Kuznetsova for the position of the TESOL-Ukraine Treasurer (in co-operation with Lilia we organized
and ran 28 regional, national, and international conferences, published many books, and implemented
interesting scientific and educational projects),
Olena Ilyenko for the position of the TESOL-Ukraine National Coordinator (in co-operation with Olena we
worked in the Executive Committee in 2004-2006, and afterwards on the implementation of other projects), and
Maryna Tsehelska for the position of the TESOL-Ukraine Vice-President (in co-operation with Maryna we
organized and ran the First Summer School in Academic English in Ukraine in 2003).
Being a member of this reliable, talented, and effective team is very important for me. We have been
working in the same professional sphere for years, and working together in TESOL-Ukraine we are sure to
contribute to the further development of our organization in order to make it an effective tool in:
● improving EFL teaching in Ukraine;
● supporting teachers of English;
● developing the network of EFL professionals;
● organizing and running conferences, seminars, summer schools, students’ forums, etc;
● designing new teaching materials and courses;
● negotiating educational issues with governmental authorities;
● ensuring sustainability in the professional development of the EFL teachers;
● assisting the young scholars in their research;
● establishing a special e-journal for publications in Linguistics Research and EFL Methodology;
● networking with the colleagues abroad;
● reviving the TESOL-Ukraine & TESOL-Hawaii Sistership;
● working out new joint projects with other members of the global TESOL community.
Our organization should be an effective tool in the implementation of many other ideas of the TESOL-
Ukraine members.
TESOL-Ukraine is 20 this year. We are to take the best experience with us to our future and re-build the
organization taking into account all the challenges of the present situation, when Ukraine is radically changing,
when Ukraine is at war for independence and democratic future.
Together we shall win.
