1. A great African American hero is Jesse Owens. Jesse
Owens was an African American gold medalist in the
Olympics.
Jesse Owens went to Ohio State University and he
did track there. While he was at OSU he made three world
records. He also married his young wife, Ruth. Then,
Jesse Owens went to the Big Ten Championship in Ann
Arbor. He did well at the championship and he got in the
Olympics.
When he was in the Olympics he won all three events and
three gold medals. Hitler didn't like it because he wanted
blonde and blue eyed people to win. Jesse offered to
shake Hitler's hand, but Hitler refused to shake his hand.
The reason why I choose him is because he fought
against Hitler's idea. He inspired me to stand up for other
people. It entertained me to read his story.
This is why he is a hero to me his legend still lives and all
people can play the Olympics no matter who they are.
