Almost 1/4th of the state
youth continue to be illiterate- of
whom 66% are women
Youth constitute a little over
1/3rd third of the population of
Karnataka. Close to 1/5th youth
belong to marginalized communities
and nearly 2/3rd live in rural areas
. More than half of them
discontinue their education
after high school.
Dropouts are mainly young
people from excluded
communities. They end up
unskilled and confused, eking
out a living as daily wage
labourers

Samvada is a collective of
professionals with a vision
for society and a passion for
youth work. Our team
includes academics and
activists with an
understanding of
contemporary Indian society
and expertise in community
work, organic farming,
counseling, education,
journalism and child care
Samvada has its roots in
Bangalore, branched out to
neighboring districts and now
attracts young people,
organisations and colleges
from all parts of the State of
Karnataka
Our3 youth resource centres reach out to
5000young people each year and invite them to
introductory discussions. Students can then opt
to take part in intensive workshops,
livelihood courses, leadership programmes
exposures, campaigns and a host of eye-
opening activities.

We re–structured the organisation & expanded the board
and re-organised staff teams
Organizational systems and processes for planning,
reporting, knowledge management and impact assessment
were developed
Capacity Staff development was given priority
Our training methodologies were customised to
meet the needs of disadvantaged youth
We developed unique inter-disciplinary curricula for
our courses and refined them over 2-3 iterations
We increased networking with civil society

  • 4. Almost 1/4th of the state youth continue to be illiterate- of whom 66% are women Youth constitute a little over 1/3rd third of the population of Karnataka. Close to 1/5th youth belong to marginalized communities and nearly 2/3rd live in rural areas . More than half of them discontinue their education after high school. Dropouts are mainly young people from excluded communities. They end up unskilled and confused, eking out a living as daily wage labourers Karnataka Today

Our team includes academics and activists with an understanding of contemporary Indian society and expertise in community work, organic farming, counseling, education, journalism and child care Samvada has its roots in Bangalore, branched out to neighboring districts and now attracts young people, organisations and colleges from all parts of the State of Karnataka Our3 youth resource centres reach out to 5000young people each year and invite them to introductory discussions. We re–structured the organisation & expanded the board and re-organised staff teams Organizational systems and processes for planning, reporting, knowledge management and impact assessment were developed Capacity Staff development was given priority Our training methodologies were customised to meet the needs of disadvantaged youth We developed unique inter-disciplinary curricula for our courses and refined them over 2-3 iterations We increased networking with civil society organisations in different parts of Karnataka
