This is a car based on roller skater designs that rely on friction, centripetal force, and gravity for its operation.... It works simply, without batteries, motor, pedals and gears. It can bear Upto 150 kg can ride smart car in smooth surface.
3. Introduction
Works on friction and gravity for its operation.
Sit on it, put your feet up, and make it go, just by wiggling the steering
wheel
It can carry up to 220 pounds (100 kg ) can ride twist car in smooth
surface.
4. The Physics behind it
o The front wheels of the machine are connected to the handlebars by a
lever, such that its offsetted by a distance.
o This means that a torque applied to the handlebars will cause a lateral
friction force by the wheels on the ground.
5. oWheel behind the axis of rotation of the steering column gives
you a Castering effect and hence it changes the centre of gravity
from one point to other.
oIts based on Newton's 3rd Law.
11. Why this material is preferred
Nylon material is used for wheel as it is highly durable and lasting.
Bearings are used in wheels as heavy load is subjected to the system.
Bearings help in the smoothened working of the system and give
higher efficiency.
It is due to force applied that the movement is possible.
12. Components of the system
Material Mild steel
Steering diameter 25 cm
Wheel diameter 8.9 cm
Steering Axle (Stainless steel) 35cm
Bearings 2.2 cm x 4
2.6 cm x 2
Rings 2.6 cm x 5
Inner diameter 2.2 cm
Nut 0.25 cm x2
Bush/ Washers 1.5 cm x2
Weight 10
25. Speed of the system depends upon the following factors
Weight of the person.
Surface in which the system is ridden.
Twisting force applied on the steering.
26. Limitations
Speed is limited.
Heavy in weight.
Can only run in a smooth and plane surface.
27. Advantages
o Rugged and durable
o Deceptively simple to operate
o No pedals
o No batteries required
o No gears
