job research
The design industry, is the industry I hope to go into.
Job roles in this industry:
Animation and game design
Graphic design
Illustrator design
Photographer
Web design
Motion picture editing
App design
I would like to become a Graphic Designer. As I have the skill, techniques
and experience working with design, advertising, creative concepts,
branding, internet, social media and photography.
A graphic designer can work as a freelancer, in an in-house design team
or at a digital and multimedia design firm.

Skills Required
In each of the job profiles I have looked at have required skills. The main
skills/experience that each of this profiles have asked for are:
Confident working to tight deadlines.
Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and
Illustrator.
An impressive portfolio demonstrating your creativity, skills and
experience.
Great communicator, confident in presenting ideas to the team.
Proactive and able to work independently, taking ownership of projects
as well as working within a team
Knowledge of Dreamweaver, Flash, HTML and CSS would be useful but
is not necessary.

CV
Before being able to apply for graphic design jobs I will have to
adapt my cv accordingly.
As at the moment my cv is very boring and not very organised.
from the research I have done, I have learnt and seen that my cv
will need to be eye catching and have a graphic feel and theme to
it. These are a few of the examples I have looked at:
6. +
My cv at the moment
This is my current cv at the moment. As you can see a
lot of work needs to be done. I still also need to collect my
feedback.
7. + Personal business card
I have been working on a new logo
and a new business card. As my first
business card I ever designed was
not very effective and was design
rather quickly.
I haven't design a new business card
at the moment as I have been working
on a new logo idea.
I have looked at different sizes of
business cards and different fonts.
I looked at normal, mini, square and
rounded business cards
The Square business card has caught
my eye the most and I will be using
this for my next design.

Design and Production
Through out the year I have been working on
several projects. From designing posters to
mobile applications.
I have been keeping screen garbs of my
process for each of these projects from
sketches, working in adobe Photoshop,
illustrator and InDesign to the final product.
I have kept all my screen grabs in a folder. So
that at the end of each project I can then
upload the full production of each project on to
my blog.

Blog
Blog url:
creativeplatformshareena.tumblr.com
My blog will/contains the work and
research I will do and need so that I can
create an excellent portfolio for my future
on becoming a graphic designer.
Here is some research I have blogged
about,
The creative industry. Were I have
Spoken about different roles and the role I
am interested in.
I have also looked in to the skills I will
need and different job profiles so that I
have an idea of what I will have to do
before I am able to apply for a similar job

I will also uploaded progress of some of my work that I am working
on at the moment.
I will carry on to blog more about my work and the progress of each
design and how I got to the final product.
I have done this already for a business card that I am producing for
a client .

Strengths
Through out my last few years at
university I have recognised my
strongest skills our with working with
Photoshop, InDesign and illustrator.
I have worked with a few clients
voluntarily designing business cards,
posters, leaflets and more. Here our
pictures of my best work.
12. +
Weaknesses
My weakest skills are with animation, photography and film.
I have worked with animation a few times using the program
flash to do so and iv always struggled with it. Mostly because of
all the coding that has to be done. Film is also another skill that
I really struggle with, from actually filming the footage to editing
it. I have never been able to understand avid or final cup pro
and get the technique of it.
13. +
Skills I need to work on
The are many skills I still need to work on and practice before I
am able and confident enough to apply for proper job roles in
the design industry.
Even though my strongest skills are in designing I still feel as if
I need to practice and learn more about each program.
I also need to teach myself more techniques and skills with
photography as I feeling at the moment I am ok but for me to
reach my full ability I will need to learn more about the camera
its self.

Showreel
I haven't created my showreel yet, as I am waiting to complete
all my university work first that I will be including in my
showreel.
At the moment I have been researching other showreels for
ideas and on how I can attract potential employers with my
work in a showreel.
I want to make my showreel eye catching and different, as I am
going to pursue a career in graphic design. so I will need to
show my designs in a particular way.
