Interview with users and customers
report
May, 2012
2. Presentation plan
• User interviews with hypotheses and
confirmations (only essential)
• User feedback analysis
• Customer feedback (potential advertising and
servicing customers)
• Summary
• Proposals and new ideas gained
3. Some of our users’ thoughts (1/10)
«... I think the idea is cool. It might be possible to use it in business
(e.g. in a team work) and in personal life as well. In general it has a
lot of application scenarios I think. But it would be good if there
was not only mobile but a desktop version as well... »
«... Talking about mobile, it might be easier to use already existing SN,
but I am not using mobile internet, so for me it is better to have a native
app in mobile, which would access internet from time to time only for
synchronization... »
The backend architecture should target both native mobile
clients as well as web usage and even social network
applications
4. Some of our users’ thoughts (2/10)
«... If someone puts status ”Help me!”, I will help, but interrupting
into someone else’s plans without request - No... »
We should think about mechanism that push customers to
help each other.
5. Some of our users’ thoughts (3/10)
«... Most of the goals set by users, at some point grow into
an event (i.e. Planned event, that has not yet taken place
but with 99% probability will happen). E.g., goal ”I want to
get together and listen to good music" – grows into an event
”Party in club X on 26.05", and you may send invitations for
this event... »
The idea is good, we now consider extending app with
“event organizer” and introduce stages for idea/goal
evolution
6. Some of our users’ thoughts (4/10)
«If you offer me to add a new intention based on my
interests and goals, it is very important to be contextually
precise and unobtrusive. If it is not an advertisement, but a
reasonable offer, then I say Yes»
We should work with contextual accuracy
and carefully work out advertising model
7. Some of our users’ thoughts (5/10)
«... I liked that part of idea with goal suggestions.
It would be great if there was a sort of rating or separate list
of creative ideas and offers. I would buy that. I would not
install an application with offers like: ”let’s go to concert or
cinema, visit skating rink, travel to a particular place for a
vacation or holidays, " but I am sure a lot of people would
love it... »
We should think about rating system for published
ideas. Featured goals and ideas might also work
8. Some of our users’ thoughts (6/10)
«... Geotargeting makes sence for short-term goals, but if it
is a long-lasting one, it might not be needed. However, e.g. I
want to take a new diving course, it is a long-lasting goal,
and on the Red Sea I want to get a suggestion with whom to
take this course... »
Geo-targeting is relevant for certain type of goals,
mostly close-to-event goals. But long-lasting goals
might also be used for contextual offers and matching
9. Some of our users’ thoughts (7/10)
«... Very good and useful idea. I think it has great chances to
succeed. But don’t turn it into yet another Facebook :( And
preferrably it should be good from the very beginning. Without
comments like ”We’ll do this in the next release”... »
The product is the key! The application should get mature
and be polished rigorously by UX-experts and loyal beta-
testers.
10. Some of our users’ thoughts (8/10)
«... To discuss serious goals – you need trustworthy and experienced company
(1-3 persons). I am definitely not going to share those with everybody. But just
to kill time – not for me either. Time costs a lot, and I don’t have free time... ”
Our service could be not only for fun but for important problems solving as well.
We should think about “trusted” accounts for advisers and mentors. We may also
divide people into user groups from the very beginning – by asking them to
choose a sample profile to start with: “Lazy student”, “Busy guy”, “Nerd”, “My
kid’s mom”, etc.
11. Some of our users’ thoughts (9/10)
«... To start using it I would probably need to hold it in my hands. I would not go to
marketplace searching for this one... But it is funny. The problem is, everyone
interprets words ”Ideas” and ”Share ideas” on her own. One may have an idea ”to
go to grocery store and get some bread” ", but someone would set an idea ”to
save the world". It would be good to have instruments for high quality idea
sharing, e.g. to make a mini-questionaire for better idea envisioning... »
We need to develop our distribution channels. The purpose
of usage might vary drastically - one more argument in
favor of profile-based personification
12. Some of our users’ thoughts (10/10)
«... I wouldn't care to put my goals up to my friends. Sort of personal. And I
don't really care what they think. Just my point of view.”
“All the best, sounds intriguing for day-to-day goals such as weekend plans,
going to gym or pool etc. For serious goals, privacy surely is a concern.”
“I’m willing to share my plans with my friend depends on the type of plan.
Plans tend to be secret... »
We need to develop strong security system (maybe
something like G+ circles). Or use a model of aka mailing
lists
13. Paying customer interviews: feedback
Language courses provider (http://etr.com.ua/)
– ready to pay for each new student up to 20% of student spending
– ready to become a service provider in our application
– interested in new clients
– spends around 200$ for internet marketing activities every season
to get new student groups
Goal-oriented clients are a good match for service
providers! Percentage from client spending is sign of
potential partnerships and cooperation
We are not limited to pure advertising only
14. Interview findings summary (new hypotheses)
• Users are expecting from the application to be:
– perfect (UX and design) even for beta
• Responsive UI
• Immediate display of changes
– available in various forms (mobile app, web, FB-app)
– secure
– pushing activity to customers (offer new, promote best ones)
– accurate and non-obtrusive in advertising
– adaptive to client expectations (“serious vs. leisure usage”)
– Functional
• Categorization and rating of ideas
• Recommended goals, activities, ideas based on their profile, history, interests
• statuses of users’ goals/ideas - e.g. initial, planning, dropped, scheduled, etc.
• Paying customers are:
– expecting new clients and are ready to pay for it
• Willingness to share percentage from client spending is a good sign for potential
partnerships
