Today’
Today’s meeting at Tick Tock
We had in attendance; 9 Downtown members, 5 Sunset members, plus 3
dual members and 1 guest. Scott called the meeting to order and
welcomed the Sunset Club. It was good to see Betty Ralston in
attendance. Scott Kaplan announced that he had represented the
Downtown Club at the Largo golf tournament, where the club sponsored
a hole. They made a profit of $775, which will be used for school
supplies/expenses. Scott thanked the club for their support. Scott was
also a big part of the Relay for Life held at Largo Central Park. Scott did
13 laps, and they made between $700 - $800 for the cause. The E3
JOOI kids made over $300 selling papers at the Trop. They put that
money to good use by purchasing $250 worth of goodies (five boxes) for
our troops. How great is that?! Vi Hayworth announced the she and
Governor Ric are working on a new club, made up of young adults. That
should be in the works very soon. Governor Ric & Vi are working on
another club in Palmetto. If you know of anyone in that area who would
be interested, please let them know. There was another discussion on a
trip over to Hard Rock casino. Numerous members are interested, as
well as members from other clubs. Vi & Viki will chair this and look into
more details and advise the results. Scott and Laura Morris celebrated
birthdays, so they were presented with the ice cream cake and candle!
Rick will celebrate one also, on the 3rd, so we all sang Happy Birthday to
all three.

Tropicana Fund Raiser Update
Lee reported that so far the club has received
one check in the amount of $107 for the first
night at the Pizza booth. In all, ten members have
worked so far for a total of five games. The club will be
receiving additional checks for the other nights worked;
approximately another $450. Lee keeps a total of hours and
number of workers for each game. The Trop sends the check to
the St. Pete Club (since they invited us to help them). They in turn,
forward a check to Lee for our clubs portion. Papa John’s Pizza is
on the 3rd base side. If you’re having pizza at the game, remember
to visit the booth. Our members who work the games, put in about
5 hours per game. Hats off to all of those who participate!
Raffle Ticket Fund Raiser Update
Lee also reported that our STAR Salesman, Jim Ridings,
has already sold out. In fact, he pre-sold tickets that he didn’t
even have. Jean will share some with him. Way to go Jim!

The Optimist Creed
Promise Yourself -
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the
presence of trouble.
