Arduino based 3D Printer
What is 3d printing?
 The technology used for printing physical 3D object from digital out is called
3D PRINTING, where three dimensional object is created by laying down
successive layers of material.
 It is also called RAPID PROTOTYPES.
 Essentially, the difference between 3D and 2D printers is that of printing
versus manufacturing.

The manufacturing process used here known as ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING.
 Creates a product through adding materials to the object.
 Adds material layer by layer until printing is finished.
MANUFACTURING PROCESS
3D PRINTING TECHNOLOGY
DIFFERENT 3D PRINTING METHODS:
Selective laser sintering (SLS).
Stereo lithography.
Fused deposition modeling (FDM).
Laminated object manufacturing.
 The quick, clean and cost efficient development method of prototyping.
 CAD diagrams converted into design specific command which later released
the melted thermoplastic accordingly.
 This process is repeated layer by layer based on specific design coordinates.
 The molten material becomes a solid object as soon it is exposed to a cooler
environment.

 THE MEGA 2560 IS A MICROCONTROLLER BOARD BASED ON THE ATMEGA2560 .
 54 DIGITAL INPUT/OUTPUT PINS (OF WHICH 15 CAN BE USED AS PWM OUT PUTS).
 16 ANALOG INPUTS.
 4 UARTS (HARDWARE SERIAL PORTS).
 16 MHZ CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR.
STEPPER MOTOR
 Stepper motors are DC motors that move in discrete steps.
 They have multiple coils that are organized in groups called "phases".
 By energizing each phase in sequence, the motor will rotate, one step
at a time.
ARDUINO MEGA SHIELD
 Shields are boards that can be plugged
on top of the Arduino PCB extending its
capabilities.
 easy to mount.
 cheap to produce.
THERMISTORS
Thermally sensitive resistor.
◦ Formed from semiconductor materials, not metals
◦ Often composite of a ceramic and a metallic oxide (Mn, Co, Cu or Fe)
◦ Typically have negative temperature coefficients.

What is 3d printing?  The technology used for printing physical 3D object from digital out is called 3D PRINTING, where three dimensional object is created by laying down successive layers of material.  It is also called RAPID PROTOTYPES.  Essentially, the difference between 3D and 2D printers is that of printing versus manufacturing.

  • 4. The manufacturing process used here known as ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING.  Creates a product through adding materials to the object.  Adds material layer by layer until printing is finished. MANUFACTURING PROCESS
  • 5. 3D PRINTING TECHNOLOGY DIFFERENT 3D PRINTING METHODS: Selective laser sintering (SLS). Stereo lithography. Fused deposition modeling (FDM). Laminated object manufacturing.
  • 6.  The quick, clean and cost efficient development method of prototyping.  CAD diagrams converted into design specific command which later released the melted thermoplastic accordingly.  This process is repeated layer by layer based on specific design coordinates.  The molten material becomes a solid object as soon it is exposed to a cooler environment.   • 11. Arduino MEGA 2560  THE MEGA 2560 IS A MICROCONTROLLER BOARD BASED ON THE ATMEGA2560 .  54 DIGITAL INPUT/OUTPUT PINS (OF WHICH 15 CAN BE USED AS PWM OUT PUTS).  16 ANALOG INPUTS.  4 UARTS (HARDWARE SERIAL PORTS).  16 MHZ CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR.
  • 12. STEPPER MOTOR  Stepper motors are DC motors that move in discrete steps.  They have multiple coils that are organized in groups called "phases".  By energizing each phase in sequence, the motor will rotate, one step at a time.
  • 13. ARDUINO MEGA SHIELD  Shields are boards that can be plugged on top of the Arduino PCB extending its capabilities.  easy to mount.  cheap to produce.
  • 14. THERMISTORS Thermally sensitive resistor. ◦ Formed from semiconductor materials, not metals ◦ Often composite of a ceramic and a metallic oxide (Mn, Co, Cu or Fe) ◦ Typically have negative temperature coefficients.

  • 21. In Conclusion 3D printing is an expanding technology which may soon start an industry in which everyone has the possibility of being a manufacturer. 3D printing has a lot of possible benefits to society, although the products created must be regulated.
