200 faculty, staff, and students participated in a
session to bring together the many programs and
initiatives at the College to help student be more
successful in their year at Tri-C
Participants urged to work together using their own
experience as a touchstone to draft visions and
goals for the first year
2) Vision Created
First Year Experiences prepare and empower students
for success and completion through connections to
College and community, academic and career planning,
exposure to college resources, and strategies for
collegiate success.
3) Campus Meetings




Faculty, staff and students reviewed, discussed, and
refined draft visions and goals
Voted on top priorities at individual campus
locations
4) Goals Condensed





Goals were condensed into 5 overarching goals
Common to all campuses
Voted on by all campuses
Similar themes, emphasis, and ranking of
importance
December 2013 Meeting

  • 2. The FYE Process 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. College-wide session held Vision created Campus meetings Goals grouped into 5 overarching goals common to all campuses Final session in December for alignment, research on effective practice, and existing programs
  • 3. 1) College-wide Session Held   200 faculty, staff, and students participated in a session to bring together the many programs and initiatives at the College to help student be more successful in their year at Tri-C Participants urged to work together using their own experience as a touchstone to draft visions and goals for the first year
  • 4. 2) Vision Created First Year Experiences prepare and empower students for success and completion through connections to College and community, academic and career planning, exposure to college resources, and strategies for collegiate success.
  • 5. 3) Campus Meetings   Faculty, staff and students reviewed, discussed, and refined draft visions and goals Voted on top priorities at individual campus locations
  • 6. 4) Goals Condensed     Goals were condensed into 5 overarching goals Common to all campuses Voted on by all campuses Similar themes, emphasis, and ranking of importance
  • 7. December 2013 Meeting     Final session in December will be focused on alignment between the vision and goals Matching activities to the stated goals and outcomes Explore and discuss national research on effective practice Learn about existing programs and activities
