 Accident are defined by WHO “an unexpected and unwanted
incident resulting in physical and mental harm”.
 According to WHO, an estimation of 6,85000 children under
age of five had died through unintentional accidents largely
from RTA, drowning , burns, falls and poison.. etc

 To assess the knowledge on prevention of pediatric
emergencies and its first aid management among mothers of
under-five children.
 To determine the effectiveness of structured teaching
programme on prevention of pediatric emergencies and its first
aid management Mothers Of Under-five Children.
 To find out the association between the demographic variables
and knowledge regarding prevention of pediatric emergencies
and its first aid management among mothers of under-five
children.
 H-1 :There is a significant difference between the pre test and
post test score among mothers of under five children on
knowledge regarding prevention of pediatric emergencies and
its first aid management.
 H-2 : There is significant association between the knowledge
regarding prevention of pediatric emergencies and its first aid
management and the selected demographic variables.

3.  APPROACH : Quantitative approach among 50 mothers
 SAMPLING : Purposive sampling technique
 DESIGN: Pre experimental one group pretest post test.
 AREA: Pediatric medical ward and Burns ward , ICH Egmore
chennai.

 Therefore the structured teaching programme on prevention of
pediatric emergencies and its first aid management was
effective in enhancing knowledge among mothers of under-
five children.
Hence, hypothesis H1 was accepted

Hence hypothesis H2 was accepted at 0.05 level of
significant
 Quasi –Experimental Conducter by arti, km & kumari, rina&
koonwar.
 One group pretest and post test for 48 mother
 With instructed modules 22(45.83%) had good knowledge and
26(54.17%) average knowledge.
 Paired t test showed there was a significant improvement
between pre and post test score p<0.05.

5.  Nurse administrators can be create guideline.
 An extended and intensive research.
 Awareness programme .
 Mothers who were pretested and they were not available in
post test due to discharge
 Children are vulnerable to accidents and are at risk
everywhere in today high-tech society.
