2. In the beginning…
A providential meeting on Sunday, May 18,
2014 at Warrenton Bible Fellowship
Two new friends (pastors Scott Ferrell and
Brian Sandifer) with one dream for the local
community
Two like-minded churches (Warrenton Bible
Fellowship and Heritage Presbyterian) with
one vision for the kingdom
Two groups with one goal of laying a solid
foundation
Elders: set the doctrinal and missional
foundation
Appointed “seed board”: craft the mission,
vision, purpose, and operating procedures
4. Background on
Statement of Faith
Used HPC and WBF SOFs as the basis
Drafted as a consensus document by
all elders of HPC and WBF
Goal is to confess unity in the
essentials, and grant liberty in non-
essentials
Charity extended to all churches
who do not affirm WGP SOF
5. Statement of Faith
1. The Scriptures in the Old and New Testaments are
inerrant in their original writings and are the inspired
Word of God, the only infallible authority regarding
salvation, faith and practice.
2. There is one God, eternal and self-existing in three
divine persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – who are to
be equally worshiped and served.
3. Jesus Christ is God incarnate, subject to the Father,
fully God and fully man, one person in two natures. He
was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the
virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, was crucified and died,
arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and
sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High
Priest and Advocate.
6. Statement of Faith
4. The Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord
Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of its guilt and
regenerates sinners. In Him they are baptized into union
with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God.
He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and
empowers believers to follow in the example of Christ.
5. All mankind is lost in sin and totally helpless. In union
with Adam, all human beings are sinners by nature and
by choice, therefore alienated from God and under His
holy wrath. Only by the grace of a sovereign God can we
be rescued, reconciled and renewed by the life-giving
power of the Holy Spirit. We receive God’s grace
through faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ, who,
as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on
the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our
sins. The work of Christ is the only ground for salvation.
7. Statement of Faith
6. As sinners, we come to faith in Christ as the Holy Spirit
convicts us through the Scriptures, causing us to be born
again to become children of God. Justification is by
grace alone, received by faith alone, and through it the
undeserving sinner repents and is credited with the
righteousness of Christ.
7. Saving faith results in a process of sanctification in the
life of the Christian, necessarily producing good works
and service for the glory of God. God commands us to
love Him above all and others sacrificially, with care
and compassion for one another and toward the poor,
seeking justice for the oppressed. In obedience to
Christ’s commission, we are to constantly strive to make
disciples among all people.
8. Statement of Faith
8. Christ alone is the Head of the church local and
universal, comprised of all those who belong to Christ.
The mission of the church is to glorify God by building
itself up in unity and faith, preaching the Word,
fellowship, evangelism, and keeping the ordinances of
baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Ordained by Christ,
baptism and the Lord’s Supper are a means of grace,
but are not a means of salvation.
9. Jesus Christ will return to earth, visibly and bodily, at a
time when He is not expected, to complete history and
the eternal plan of God. We believe that God will raise
the dead bodily and judge the world. Those who reject
Christ will be condemned to eternal conscious
punishment, but the believer will enjoy eternal
blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven
and the new earth, to the praise of His glorious grace.
9. Philosophy of Ministry
The Warrenton Gospel Partnership exists to
strategically spread, share, and model the
gospel of Jesus Christ to our community
through partnership with like-minded local
churches. Our focus is on explicitly Christ-
exalting projects and events to publicly
express our fellowship in the gospel, our
love for God and neighbor, and to make new
disciples of Christ.
10. Mission & Vision
Mission: Local churches united to
spread the gospel and minister
Christ’s love
Vision: Every neighbor living in the
power of Christ’s grace and mercy
11. Purpose Statement:
paragraph 1
(The “philosophy of ministry”)
The Warrenton Gospel Partnership (WGP)
exists strategically to spread, share, and
model the gospel of Jesus Christ to our
community through partnership with like-
minded local churches. The focus is on
explicitly Christ-exalting projects and events
to publicly ex-press fellowship in the gospel,
love for God and neighbor, and to make new
disciples of Christ.
12. Purpose Statement:
paragraph 2
The WGP is an organized means for like-
minded local churches to identify one
another and to minister together in the
community. This shared ministry will focus
on local evangelistic and mercy ministry.
Therefore, the WGP is not an entity that
directs or performs ministries and activities,
but rather, those events are solely the
responsibility of participating churches.
WGP is not a para-church ministry or a
“new” local church. It has minimal internal
governance and no autonomous capabilities.
13. Purpose Statement:
paragraph 3
The goal is not to blend churches or
congregations, but to stand together as
independent congregations within the
broader universal church. Participants and
observers should be able to clearly see how
the body of Christ can extend beyond any
one local congregation by the love shown to
one another and our neighbors.

32. The Main Point
Our local congregations are expressions of God’s
larger church in Warrenton and the surrounding
community
Christ’s kingdom is bigger than your church
God will bless your church by growing her
numerically and spiritually as his kingdom spreads
in our community
WGP events and ministries only happen because
Christians decide and commit to serve
Ministry ideas remain only ideas until people
decide to serve God and neighbor in tangible ways
How is the Lord calling you to serve?
