To be eligible for the typewriting examination, candidates must have passed 10th standard SSLC exams in Tamil Nadu or equivalent, and either the junior or senior grade typewriting exam in English or Tamil from DOTE. Alternatively, candidates can have passed the higher grade typewriting exam in English or Tamil from DOTE. All candidates must also undergo a minimum of 120 hours of training in a recognized typewriting institute or government/government-aided/self-financing polytechnic college. Private candidates who have undergone the 120 hours of training can also appear for the exam.
