sura kahf
- the cave
The Prophet (SAWS) also said, “…and he who reads
the last ten ayahs of surah Al-Kahf, Al-Dajjal will not be
able to harm him.”
And in another Hadith, “…whoever among you
encounters him – Al-Dajjal – should read upon him the
opening ayahs of surah Al-Kahf.”

tour. there he met a mystic who
performed three unexplainable
task. later he explained
whatever happened, happened
for the betterment by the will of
allah
study tour of musa as
mind

expeditions where he showed
how to help people with the
available resources with humility
and sincerity and yet with
authority
expedition of zulkarnain as
body
soul
few youths denied to worship
anyone other than allah and
took shelter in a cave. allah put
them into a miraculous long
sleep of 309 years.
people of the cave
the wealthy friend’s heart got
filled with pride. He became
ungrateful and refused to accept
that there is a hereafter. allah
took away everything in just one
night with storm.
the owners of the two garden
heart
an observation
in first two story Allah’s intervention is visible in second two story Allah’s intervention is invisible
309 Years of Sleep the storm action of the mystic action of zulkarnain
sometimes things happened in the seen world and sometimes things happened in the unseen world
there is a curtain in between these two worlds
allah lifted the curtain just a little bit in one story to show that
he has always been there whether we see it or not
there is a curtain in between these two worlds
relationship with kahf & dajjal
• he will tempt people
with his wealth
• tremble heart with
fear
• order the sky to rain
• transform a barren
desert land into a
beautiful green
garden.
trial of heart

worship him.
• He will have the
ability to perform
miracles:, like
bringing one’s life,
like mother and
father.
trial of religion
• he will manipulate
information
• he will captivate
people with what he
knows
trial of knowledge

• ask allah alone for help
• Remember the hereafter:

• Understanding the true purpose of
this life
• be humble and be grateful for what
you have
• don’t show off
• Remember the hereafter:

your responsibility
• don’t just wait for miracle to
happen
• do what needs to be done for
the benefit of people

• things often don’t appear as it
looks like, so have patience
• at the end, everything happens
for greater good
trial of knowledge
because it shows the solution!
related verse
trial of religion
And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening,
seeking His countenance. And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and
do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and
whose affair is ever [in] neglect. Ayah 28
trial of heart with wealth
Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord
for reward and better for [one's] hope. Ayah 46
trial of knowledge
And how can you have patience for what you do not encompass in knowledge?“ Ayah 68
[Moses] said, "You will find me, if Allah wills, patient, and I will not disobey you in [any] order.“ Ayah 69
trial of authority
Say, "I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed that your god is one God. So whoever would hope
for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone.“
Ayah 110
but its quite startling how the sura has began..
how the four stories are based on value
but values are relative so what is the standard?
the standard is..
principle
why principles?
Timeless
they don’t bend
with time
they are universal
no matter what
color, what race,
what faith or
country you are in,
everyone
recognize them
Universal
they are self
evident
Self Evident Natural Law
they follow natural
law, you simply
can not fake them
because principles are..
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who
has sent down upon His Servant
the Book and has not made any
deviance in it. [ayah 1]
the ayah starts with this standard..
quran straight
deviance
why? because the book constantly talks about principles!
betruthful
Do not take credit for what you
did not earn or deserve. (3:188)
behumble
Be humble (26:215)
Do not be arrogant; it is a sin
(2:206)
bereasonable

unjust in your demands (9:58)
retain relationship

your relatives. (47:22-23)
bekind
Be kind to parents, relatives,
wayfarers, the needy, orphans
(89:17-20, 93:9-11, 107:1-3)
bejust

your parents or relatives (4:135)
donot cheat or fraud
do not cheat or do fraud 83:1
Do not cheat with balance: (17:35,
21:47)
keepyour promise
Fulfil your oaths, and promises,
and be trustworthy to all people.(
2:270, 3:76, 76:7-10)
givecharity
It is better if you give your charity
in secret to the poor (2:271)
payyour debt
Pay back your debt, and give back
what you held for others. (2:283)
show curtesy

(31:19)
Do not pray too loud (17:110)
giveprivacy
do not enter someone's house
without permission (24:27)
take care of orphans
Take care of the Orphans.( 4:3,
6:152)
don’t bribe
Do not bribe or take bribery. Also,
corrupt money is forbidden
(2:188)
behonest
Provide evidence and truth.
Produce your proof if you are
honest. (2:111, 21:24, 27:64,
28:75)
donot spread violence
Do not corrupt the lands, the
earth, people, creations (. 7:56,
7:85)
Do not be a murderer. (:27-32,
17:33, and 25:68)
why? because the book constantly talks about principles!
go back to this referral point and
then calibrate..
so if you have any disputes regrading what standard to
follow, then simply…
one last thought..
where did people used to go for shelter?
in a cave, in a kahf!
so, get a grip on the lessons and you
should be just fine against the
greatest trial the world will ever see..
some hadith mentioning kahf and dajjal
If anyone memorizes ten verses from the beginning of surat al-Kahf, he will be protected from the trial of Dajjal (Antichrist).
Sunan Abi Dawud 4323
A man was reciting Surat Al-Kahf and his horse was tied with two ropes beside him. A cloud came down and spread over that
man, and it kept on coming closer and closer to him till his horse started jumping (as if afraid of something). When it was
morning, the man came to the Prophet, and told him of that experience. The Prophet ( ‫ﷺ‬) said, "That was As-Sakina
(tranquility) which descended because of (the recitation of) the Qur'an.“ Sahih al-Bukhari 5011
The Messenger of Allah ( ‫ﷺ‬) mentioned the Dajjal (Antichrist) saying: If he comes forth while I am among you I shall be the
one who will dispute with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth when I am not among you, a man must dispute on his
own behalf, and Allah will take my place in looking after every Muslim. Those of you who live up to his time should recite
over him the opening verses of Surat al – Kahf, for they are your protection from his trial. Sunan Abi Dawud 4321
The Prophet ( ‫ﷺ‬) used to say, "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from laziness from geriatric old age, from being in debt, and
from committing sins. O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the Fire, the afflictions of the grave, the
punishment in the grave, and the evil of the affliction of poverty and from the evil of the affliction caused by Al-Masih Ad-
Dajjal. O Allah! Wash away my sins with the water of snow and hail, and cleanse my heart from the sins as a white garment is
cleansed of filth, and let there be a far away distance between me and my sins as You have set far away the East and the
West from each other.“ Sahih al-Bukhari 6375

  • 19. some hadith mentioning kahf and dajjal If anyone memorizes ten verses from the beginning of surat al-Kahf, he will be protected from the trial of Dajjal (Antichrist). Sunan Abi Dawud 4323 A man was reciting Surat Al-Kahf and his horse was tied with two ropes beside him. A cloud came down and spread over that man, and it kept on coming closer and closer to him till his horse started jumping (as if afraid of something). When it was morning, the man came to the Prophet, and told him of that experience. The Prophet ( ‫ﷺ‬) said, "That was As-Sakina (tranquility) which descended because of (the recitation of) the Qur'an.“ Sahih al-Bukhari 5011 The Messenger of Allah ( ‫ﷺ‬) mentioned the Dajjal (Antichrist) saying: If he comes forth while I am among you I shall be the one who will dispute with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth when I am not among you, a man must dispute on his own behalf, and Allah will take my place in looking after every Muslim. Those of you who live up to his time should recite over him the opening verses of Surat al – Kahf, for they are your protection from his trial. Sunan Abi Dawud 4321 The Prophet ( ‫ﷺ‬) used to say, "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from laziness from geriatric old age, from being in debt, and from committing sins. O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the Fire, the afflictions of the grave, the punishment in the grave, and the evil of the affliction of poverty and from the evil of the affliction caused by Al-Masih Ad- Dajjal. O Allah! Wash away my sins with the water of snow and hail, and cleanse my heart from the sins as a white garment is cleansed of filth, and let there be a far away distance between me and my sins as You have set far away the East and the West from each other.“ Sahih al-Bukhari 6375
