TO WHISPER OR NOT TO WHISPER
Humans are masters at the application of pressure. The application of
pressure whether it be the kicking of the horse in the sides to move
forward, or the pulling on the reigns to cause the horse to stop is the way
most of us have been taught to ride. One of the problems with this sort of
methodology is the fact that as we apply the pressure to either stop or
move forward we don’t give the horse the release of pressure. In other
words when we ask for the stop by applying the pressure needed we
continue the pressure long after the desired result is achieved.(If it is
achieved at all) The point is simple a horse learns best via the release of
pressure if you desire a nice light horse that responds to very little
pressure. This timing takes a lot of practice. But as you begin to work this
way you will find your horse learning very quickly! You will have a much
happier horse also. This is the way many are able to ride in just a rope
halter or no halter at all. As a predator by nature this release of pressure
will be one of the most difficult things for you to accomplish. However you
can change this about yourself. Matter of fact change is a lifelong process.
When it comes to horses and humans we never stop learning. Until next
month KEEP IT SAFE, KEEP IT NATURAL.
