According to a study titled “Multicenter Prospective
Cohort Study of the Incidence of Adverse Events
Associated with Cosmetic Dermatologic Procedures”
published in JAMA Dermatology, noninvasive
procedures like Botox injections are very safe and do not
have many side effects.

• The study also noted that the side effects that do
occur are fairly minor and happen at a very low
rate.
In the study, researchers reviewed data from
nearly 20,400 cosmetic procedures. The results
suggest that only 1 in roughly 3,330 Botox
treatments produces adverse side effects. When
compared to more invasive cosmetic facial
surgeries, this is an extremely low number.
