This research investigated challenges encountered using CBT by 2015 UTME candidates in Owerri zone one and examined their implications on the test validity. Survey design was adopted. The population of the study comprised 1,006 SSIII students in public secondary schools in Owerri zone one who took 2015 UTME. The sample comprised of 20% of the population selected using stratified random sampling and simple balloting. Seven research questions guided the study. A Likert-type questionnaire was used for data collection. Mean scores were used for data analysis. Among the challenges identified were; insufficient computers and computer centers, power failure, candidates' incompetence in use of computers, posting of candidates far from home by JAMB and unfavourable timing of exam sessions. The study concludes that these challenges hinder test validity. The implication is that candidates in Owerri zone one centers would have performed better than they performed in 2015 UTME if they were examined under a conducive exam environment. Some recommendations made are: Construction of more computer centers, provision of more computers for UTME and enhancement of power supply by the Government, posting of candidates close to their homes and postponement of use of CBT for UTME by JAMB till the identified challenges have been curbed.

This study examines the achievement of different types of students in learning chemistry at Engineering college level. In this study, the investigator applied Experimental Research as a method to describe and interpret what will exist in the future. A achievement test for the assessment of learning chemistry among Engineering college I year students was prepared with a sample of 30 students. The achievement test consists of 54 items. The achievement test was used for the achievement test. The male and female students have an average level of achievement in learning chemistry. The rural and urban students have an average level of achievement in learning chemistry. The male and female students do not differ significantly in their achievement in learning chemistry. The rural and urban students do not differ significantly in their achievement score in learning chemistry.

Complex ensemble of shapes in an image is very difficult for segmentation. Hough transform is one of the robust algorithms for detecting geometric shapes in the images. The modification of this Hough transform is used for effecting way of segmenting images. By tuning the parameters of the circle detection model, extracting the concentric shapes is achieved. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for finding the distance between the concentric closed shapes in an image. These achieved by splitting the image into four quadrants and apply the Hough transform for detecting the curves in each quadrant and finally combine the result of four quadrants and achieve the result

The studyaimed to analyze the typology of competitiveness and economic performance of East Java’s regencies/cities, and investigate the influence of regional competitiveness to ward their economic performance.Moreover, the study appliedquantitative research approach which employedsome analysis instruments, namely: Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Regression Analysis and Region Typology. The resultsshowed: 1) The typology of competitiveness of regionswhich includes category I, II, III and IV were 31.58%, 26.32%, 15.79%, and 26.32%; 2) Competitiveness which compriseregional strength indicator, public service facilities, and investment climate proved to affect economic performance; 3) The investment climate had the greatest role compared with regional strength and public service facilities aspects; 4) Regional strength aspects that contributed significantly to the competitiveness was the quality ofhuman resources; 5) Obligatory functions service to provide educational infrastructure hadgiven largest contribution to the determinant of regioncompetiveness.

This study investigated the predictive influence of teaching anxiety and occupational stress on teaching efficacy of secondary school teachers in Owerri Municipal of Imo State Nigeria. Using a descriptive survey research design. Simple random sampling technique was used to select four hundred secondary school teachers from twenty secondary schools in Owerri Municipal Imo State Nigeria. Instruments used were: Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale (long form) (0.90); Teachers Teaching Anxiety Scale (0.84) and Teachers Occupation Job Stress Scale (0.72). Two research questions were answered at 0.05 level of significance. Data were analysed using Multiple Regression statistical tool. The independent variables accounted for 72.3% of the total variance on teaching efficacy of secondary school teachers. In order of magnitude, of the contribution: Occupational stress has more predictive influence on teaching efficacy of secondary school teachers (β = 0. 382, t = 5.214, P < 0.05) followed by teaching anxiety (β = 0. 164, t = 3.428, P < 0.05) on teaching efficacy of secondary school teachers. Therefore, School administrator should ensure teachers are given tasks that commiserate with their ability to avoid the experience of work-overload, burnout and stress. Also, teachers should take time to update themselves academically as to overcome the challenge of intellectual deficiency that could generate anxiety while teaching.

Video compression has two major issues to be handled, one is video compression rate and other one is quality. There is always a trade-off between speed and quality. Full search block matching algorithm (FSBMA) is most popular motion estimation algorithm. But high computational complexity is the major challenge of FSBM. This makes FSBM to be very difficult to use for real time video processing with the low power batteries. Other algorithm gives better speed on the expense of quality of video. The proposed algorithm i.e. modified full search block matching algorithm (MFSBMA) reduces the computational complexity by keeping the PSNR same as of FSBMA. MFSBMA skips the SAD calculations for a current background macroblock and it does SAD calculations for foreground current microblock. This method reduces SAD calculations drastically. This work presents apipelined architecture forMFSBMA which can work on real time HDTV video processing. The proposed algorithm reduces computational complexity by 50% keeping PSNR same with the full search algorithm.

This work described the determination of energy involved in a stepwise size reduction of maize, using a numerical approach. It adopts an implicit one-step third-derivative method of the form;       (111) (111) 1 3 (1 1) (1 1) 1 2 (1) (1) 1 1 2 10 120 n n n n n n En En h E E h E E h E   E          . The size to which maize grain is to be reduced relative to its initial size affects the energy required of the milling machine. The smaller the size of the milled product the higher the energy required of the machine. The energy required is evaluated by the size reduction formula: 푑퐸 푑퐿 = 퐺퐿 2 . Comparison of the numerical result with the exact solution showed that the third- derivative method is accurate and thus recommended for solving engineering problems on rate of change.

To increase the power generation, Distributed Generation (DG) based on Renewable Energy Systems (RES) such as PV Systems, Wind Energy Systems is extensively used. This paper proposes a method of integrating the DG with Distribution Network to maximize the penetrating DG Power into the Distribution Network. This method adopts power flow analysis & also uses STATCOM to control the variation in bus voltages in the distribution network. This method is implemented and tested using Power World Simulator on an IEEE 13-Bus industrial distribution system with different loading conditions, which results in a significant increase in a DG power generation

Worldwide more than 3 million people currently die each year from smoking. Smoking of tobacco is practised worldwide & common in the developing countries like India. The study is designed to determine the lipid peroxidation and antioxidant status along with serum calcium level in smokers (cigarette/bidi) with reference to the normal healthy non-smokers. 50 smokers(Cigarette/Bidi) of mean age 35± 5 years were enrolled for the study & were compared to 50 normal healthy non-smokers of the same age. Blood samples were obtained by puncture of antecubital vein and the following tests were performed i.e. P-MDA, Serum-SOD andSCalcium. Increased plasma lipid per oxidation (P<0.05) /><0.05) in serum SOD & serum Calcium were observed in smokers when compared to normal/healthy control subjects. The increased level of lipid per oxidation products in smokers reflects that there is increased cell wall damage that may further leads to several complications such as COPD, Stroke and the variety of lung and other cancers. It was also found that cigarette / bidi smoke alters the antioxidants status as well as minerals imbalance in smokers and increases atherogenecity.

The focus of this paper is to identify the determinants of share prices for the listed commercial banks in Karachi stock exchange over the period 2007-2013. One of the unique features of this paper is to find out the impact of both internal and external factors on share price. Linear multiple regression analysis is used to determine whether the selected independent variables have influence on share prices or not. The results indicate that earning per share has more influence on share prices and it has positive and significant relationship with share prices, book to market value ratio and interest rate have also significant but negative relation with share prices while other variables (gross domestic product, price earnings ratio, dividend per share, leverage) have no relationship with share prices
