4. Green Building
Green building (also known as green
construction or sustainable building) refers to a
structure and using process that is
environmentally responsible and resource-
efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from
siting to design, construction, operation,
maintenance, renovation, and demolition.

6. Green Skyscraper
A skyscraper is a very
tall, continuously
habitable building.
A skyscraper having
features of green
building is known as
Green Skyscraper .

7. Why Green Skyscraper ?
Benefits and impacts have been studied in terms
of energy savings and indoor environmental
qualities.
For example green roof can reduce 50% of
cooling load; green wall can reduce 10 degree
centigrade indoor temperature, where as
biofilter and indoor plants purifies indoor air by
50% to 60%.

8. Example
Aerial view of the roof garden atop Chicago City Hall
The building is 11 stories tall, 220 feet above street
level, and covers 38,000 square feet.

9. Example
In Milan, Italy a new
kind of skyscraper is
under construction.
Once complete later
this year, the two-
building project will
be covered in
greenery, an effect
that gives the
buildings their
name: Bosco
Verticale, or Vertical
Forest.

10. There are four possible options for
provision of integrate plants in
Skyscraper
• Green Roof
• Green Wall
• Biofilters
• Indoor plantation

11. Green Roof
The term "green roof" is generally used to
represent an innovative yet established
approach to urban design that uses living
materials to make the urban environment more
livable, efficient, and sustainable. Other
common terms used to describe this approach
are eco roofs, and vegetated roofs.

13. Green Wall
The green facade is the outer wall which can be
free-standing or part of a building, partially or
completely covered with vegetation and in some
cases, soil or an inorganic growing medium.

15. Biofilters in Green Skyscrapers
Biofiltration is
a pollution
control techniqu
e using living
material to
capture and
biologically
degrade process
pollutants

17. Indoor Planting
The main reason is, indoor plants look attractive
– people get charmed by the graceful arch of
palm leaves or the exotic beauty of orchids.

20. Conclusion
Results are the noticeable decrease in urban
heat island, rapid reduction of energy
consumption and cost, refreshing air for a
healthy environment.
