SoccerTutor. com Tactics Manager Date: 17/Jul/2014 Measurement: Half a Pitch Time: N/ A:N/ A Players: 11 Duration: 20 Leve| lAge Group: U11 - 18+ Description: The coach works with the front 6 players to teach how to half press as a unit. The CF initiates sequence by pressuring one of the CB cones and forcing play to one side. The back players all shift to the white cones. |f ball goes a CB cone, the CM on that side sprints directly at cone to provide immediate pressure. The winger, weak—side CM, and DCM shift to cover. If ball goes to LB/ RB cone, strong-side winger presses and players shift to cover at white cones. Objective: To practice defending patterns and zonal defending under no attacking pressure. Coaching Points: Defending: - Players should shift according to the location of the ball - The group moves as the ball is traveling. - Immediate pressure on the ball Progression: Increase tempo of play between back line players and coach. Progress to phase play with numbers favoring the defending team to allow for initial success before progressing to equal numbers. After players have this down, move to working with the back 4 movement. Created using SoccerTutor. com Tactics Manager ] © SoccerTutor. com Ltd. 2001 - 2014 All Rights Reserved

The coach plays the ball to one of the "A" or "B" cones. The player in that zone immediatlely pressures the cone and plays the ball back to the coach. As the ball travels to cone "A", the LB/ RB pressures the cone with the back four shifting. The weak—side CB sets the line to which the other players align. Adjacent players should shift behind pressing player. The players not pressing should be on one line. Objective: To practice defending patterns and zonal defending under pressure. Coaching Points: Progression: Defending: - Immediate pressure on the ball - Players in adjacent zones should move behind to cover pressing player - Shift as a unit Add attacking players slowly and increase tempo of switching. Progress to phase play with numbers favoring the defending team to allow for initial success before progressing to equal numbers. After players have this down, move to working 11v0 combined movements. Created using SoccerTutor. com Tactics Manager ] © SoccerTutor. com Ltd. 2001 - 2014 All Rights Reserved

Players start at their respective tall cones. The coach plays the ball to a particular player and players shift over one cone to compact the space. For LB/ RB location, RW/ LW press and force inside as other players shift and CF cuts off option back to LCB/ RCB. For LW/ RW location, RB/ LB press and RW/ LW double team. The offensive players play back to the coach to restart and defensive playes shift back to starting positions/ central positions. Objective: To teach positional roles and responsibilities of players when applying organized collective pressure in half press scenarios.
