2. Domestic IT services market to be worth $13.6
bn by 2014: Gartner
NEW DELHI: The fast growing Indian domestic IT
services market is expected to be worth nearly $ 14 bn
in the next four years.
"The country's domestic IT services market is
expected to see a Compounded Annual Growth Rate
(CAGR) of 16 per cent by 2014, which would make
that market worth $ 13.6 bn

3. Essar to invest Rs 2K crore on cement,
ferro-alloy unit in MP
Diversified conglomerate Essar Group has firmed up
plans to invest over Rs 2,000 crore to set up a new
cement and Ferro-alloy unit in Madhya Pradesh as part
of its mega-investment programme in the state.
The group, which has already committed investments
worth around Rs 8,000 crore in the state across sectors
like steel, power and telecom had last week entered into
a pact with the Madhya Pradesh government for a
cement and Ferro-alloys project.

6. ONGC's first commercial power project
to start next year
The state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation's
(ONGC) first ever 726 MW commercial power
project would start generating electricity next year.
The ONGC's biggest power project is being
commissioned in Palatana, about 60 km south of here,
at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore.

'refreshes deskbound employees'
A new Melbourne University research has
concluded that Facebook , Twitter and other social
media sites, as well as music and online video
sites like YouTube , are the most productive ways
employees can relax at work.
The ACTU say employers continue to block many
online services to employees, including personal
email and internet banking, as well as monitoring
internet use where there is no need to.
There is also uncertainty, according to the ACTU and human
resource experts, as to what constitutes an acceptable
Internet site for recreational surfing at work.

People who surf the internet for fun - for less than 20
per cent of their work time - were 9 per cent more
productive than those who don't. The research was
based on a sample of 300 workers with access to the
Internet at work
But some sites did not have a revitalising effect,
particularly shopping websites, auction websites, online
banking and sports sites
