help please ):
True or False and explain why?
Aluminum-silicate resulting from the leaching of water has a greater percentage of aluminum than the aluminum-silicate species before the leaching occured.
Solution
Answer: False
Recall that in Bayer process of alumina from the impurities in the bauxite ore can be removed by leaching with caustic soda (NaOH) to make soluble sodium aluminate leaving the impurities in the insoluble residue. But in our present case we are using water as leaching agent , since aluminium-silicates will not dissolve in water, otherwise we cannot see sand, clay etc on earth.
Hope this helped you!
