In a discursive essay it is important to list the points of view of both sides of an argument as
objectively as possible. Only in the conclusion can you express your own point of view. Notice the
use of report structures (e.g. feel that), passives and formal linkers (e.g. moreover, furthermore) in
the sentences below.
Listing arguments:
Many people feel that harder sentences should be brought back.
The American system of 'three strikes and out' has supporters in Britain.
Moreover, some people say that conditions in prisons are too soft.
There are arguments for the restoration of the death penalty.
The wishes of victims' family and friends possibly need to be taken into account.
There are arguments against harder sentences and capital punishment
One of the arguments against longer prison sentence is that the prisons are already full.
Other people disagree and think that prisons should reform

My Role As a Group Member Essay
I used to believe that I did not perform very well in groups. I am an observer who likes to learn
alone. I thought I learned best when I worked on my own. Even though I always knew group work
had many positive values, I was more comfortable with the lecture–based approach and resisted
group work merely because it involved change, not because it had a collaborative learning approach.
However, during the learning community project, I came to realize that I learn more effectively
when I work in groups. Working in a group was like an adventure for me; there were both exciting
and challenging times while preparing for the learning community project.
The original research question our group came up with was "How can an individual influence a

During week 9, we posted the articles we thought would be useful to our research, which helped us to
get information together without face–to–face meetings. We did not use the online workplace to plan
the presentation; we only used it to get an understanding of what the others' focus was on the
topic. After we finished our research, we met at the library to organize the presentation, power
point, and plan each other's section in the presentation. We got everything done in three hours
and had some time left over to practice the presentation. I would have taken at least three days to
get that amount of work done by myself. It is amazing how much can be accomplished when
people work together. Working as a group was an exciting activity; we were able to recognize
each other's strengths, and help each other with our weaknesses. For example, I was better at
making the power point, while someone else was much better at organizing information. One thing
I realized from doing this project was that I was motivated. For example, group work helped me to
stay motivated and focused on the topic even when the topic sometimes confused me. This is
because group work allowed me to interact and discuss the topic with group members instead of just
reading articles. Moreover, it forced me to be responsible to others and, frequently then, to do more
and better work on the project than I might have done when only responsible

Ted Talk Essay
When it comes to choice it always seems to be a love hate relationship: we hate making them, but
we can't live without them. Anyone can all look back to a time in our lives where they wish
someone could just pick for us, or times when we wish there were more to choose from. All
Americans have many choices, and it is such a part of our daily lives that we don't even realize it.
Barry Schwartz and Sheena Iyengar's TED talks bring up interesting ideas about choice, how people
deal with them and their affects. They both state that although choice is good, it can also have
negative effects. Schwartz explains what most people believe and experience with choice, while
Iyengar shows cultural differences in choice making. Both Schwartz and Iyengar...show more

The second is the more choices the more likely that the best choice can be made, and the third
assumption is that you should never say no to choice. Iyengard evaluates these three assumptions
with various studies where one group is American and the other is another culture. Her studies
help understand why and how Americans make choices in comparison to the rest of the world.
Without doubt, Iyengard's studies and analysis on choice is interesting but Schwartz's was
clearer because it easily communicated the message that was more applicable to the public.
Choices are an important part of everyone's lives and the choices we make can reflex who we are
as individuals. Choice and the ability to choose are excellent and can represent a sense of
freedom. Schwartz's and Iyengard's analysis on choice focused on the effects of choice in people
and how people react and deal with it. Schwartz's Official Dogma and explanation of how
Americans act in response to choice making is the most relatable to individuals and clearly chows
the consequences of too much choice. His analysis can assist to people realize that maybe because
we have more choice doesn't necessarily mean we will make us happier or the best decision will be
made. Understanding the consequences of too much choice can possibly make individuals improve
the negative effects it can have and make us happier with our

Nursing Discussion Essay
My assumptions for nursing before walking into this course were that this profession focused on
quality care for all different types of patients. I viewed nurses as someone who is brave,
courageous, always up for a challenge, and compassionate. When I made my career choice to
become a nurse, I thought their main jobs were to spend time with the patients, help them feel
comfortable, provide them with medication that was ordered by their physician, and help patients
with day to day tasks. I looked at nurses as someone who is like a close family member –
specifically a mother. They provide you with all of the love and care that a mother can provide. My
impression of nursing was that nurses were given a plan of treatment ordered by the physician...show

I feel that being present to watch new life come into this world is one of the greatest gifts. I find
the female body to be truly fascinating. I also want to be a labor and delivery nurse because I
want women to feel heard, comfortable, and cared for during one of their most exposed and
vulnerable events. I always want them to look back and feel that besides their family, their nurse
was their biggest supporter and cheerleader. Labor and delivery nurses can truly change a
woman's birthing experience. I would also love to be able to go back to school to become a
nursing professor. I have always had a thing for teaching and showing others and I feel that being
a nursing professor would allow my life to feel more fulfilled. I want nursing students to enjoy
their experience and feel confident in what they are learning and how they are performing. If I
become a professor, I feel that I can provide that wisdom and enthusiasm to help them succeed. As
a student myself, I really value the professors who speak about their personal journey through
nursing school and I love when they give words of encouragement and wisdom. I feel it is
important for students to see that even when the road seems closed off and impossible to get
through, with a little pushing, there is always a way to

LAB REPORT
Introduction
All living things contain organic molecules such as lipids, carbohydrates, proteins and acids. In
order to detect the presence of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids we have to do experiments.
The Iodine test is used to detect the presence of carbohydrates. This test is used to distinguish starch (
polysaccharide) from carbohydrates. Reaction between starch and Iodine produce a dark grey, black
color and it means that the test is positive. A yellow color means that test is negative. But other
polysaccharides may give other colors including blue or red.
In order to detect the presence of glucose (monosaccharide) we have to use a Clinitest tablet.
Clinitest tablets are usually used for urine sugar testing. If...show more content...
We mix them and let stand for a minute. Then we add a few grains of Sudan IV into the same tube.
We cover out tube with parafilm then mix and let it stay.

Discussion:
In Experiment 1 after we added Iodine to tube A1 (3 ml of starch) we could see a change of color.
Due to reaction Iodine +Starch color changed to black. After we added 5 drops of Iodine into tube
B1 (3ml glucose) color turned yellow. Then we added Iodine into tube C1 (distilled water) and
color in this tube also turned yellow. So now we can say that the test is positive for starch.
According to this experiment water and glucose got the same color what means that the test for the
tubes B1 and C1 is negative because water doesn't have anything inside. Iodine reacted with the
starch and this reaction is positive for the polysaccharides (starch).
After we added

There was also concern if current education can develop a nurse's preparedness in delivering
quality care (Griffiths et al, 2012). One of the participants stated "you might be the best clinician in
the world but if you can't communicate and you can't listen properly to people and you don't take on
board and understand what they're saying you may as well go dig the street" (Griffiths et al, 2012).
Furthermore another participant stated "...each individual should be [evaluated] and their needs be
assessed and implemented on that particular individual...I just feel it's a conveyor belt system. Get
them in and get them out sort of thing" (Griffiths et al, 2012). In another qualitative review which
explored nurse's perspectives on patient–centred care, suggested time management was the largest
barrier preventing them from communicating effectively with their patients (Chan et al, 2012). One
nurse stated "sometimes, I have to deal with 20 patients in one single shift... if one needs 10 minutes
and there are 20 patients in total, how much time would we have to spend on this? Don't we need to
do other tasks?" (Chan et al, 2012). According to the Australian Commission on safety and quality in
health care, (2011) effective patient–centred care is employed through training health professionals to

Essay about Qualitative Analysis Discussion
DISCUSSION:
Qualitative analysis is used to determine the presence of cations or anions present within a sample
and their impurities. Information known, such as chemical and physical properties, about cations
and anions can be used to determine what steps should be used to separate the sample into one,
specific ion. Qualitative analysis involves forming and decomposing complex ions. Qualitative tests
are very sensitive, allowing to detect a very small amount present in sample. Due to sensitivity,
cleaning utensils and accurate observations are essential to results. Many basic principles are
applied to determine the impurities or cations. To determine which impurities are present, scheme or
flow chart is followed. Scheme is used...show more content...
In every step, there was a precipitate and supernatant liquid. This lead to students being able to
determine which exact ion is present in solution.
A solution containing three unknown ions (#3) was then tested. Procedure was carried out
accordingly to lab manual. Determined ions present in solution were Fe3+, Cr3+, and Cu2+. The
confirmatory test for Fe3+ that was used was , K4Fe(CN)6 add to a precipitate containing Fe3+.
A dark blue precipitate formed which is a positive result, Fe3+ is present in this solution.
Continuing procedure, Cr3+ presence was confirmed in step 9 by dissolving the precipitate with
HNO3 then adding 5 drops of diphenycarbazide (dcp) solution. The supernatant was yellow then a
sudden change to pretty, dark pink/purple after the first drop confirmed chromium presence. The
reason for the color change is because chromium is reduced and dcp is oxidized. Further, along in
the procedure, another positive test revealed the last ion present, Cu2+. The confirmatory test of
copper revealed a positive result. This test was actually performed a couple of times to get a
positive test due to skipping of a solution. Copper was confirmed by adding K4Fe(CN)6 to
supernatant. A maroon precipitate formed, Cu2Fe(CN)6.
Lastly, a solution containing four unknown ions (#6) was to be determined. The determined ions for
solution #6 was iron (Fe3+), chromium (Cr3+), bismuth (Bi2+), and aluminum (Al3+).

Patient Safety Essay
Introduction
Keeping patients safe is essential in today's health care system, but patient safety events that violate
that safety are increasing each year. It was only recently, that the focus on patient safety was
reinforced by a report prepared by Institute of medicine (IOM) entitled " To err is human, building a
safer health system"(Wakefield & Iliffe,2002).This report found that approx–imately 44,000 to
98,000 deaths occur each year due to medical errors and that the majority was preventable. Deaths
due to medical errors exceed deaths due to many other causes such as like HIV infections, breast
cancer and even traffic accidents (Wakefield & Iliffe, 2002). After this IOM reports, President
Clinton established quality interagency...show more content...
Wrong side surgeries are also increasing, which are highest in year 2008.
According to Health Grades, 2009, total Direct cost of unsafe infection practice to Unit–ed State is
$535 million while cost to patient safety events is 6.8 billion to federal Medicare pro–gram and also
leads to 92,882 preventable deaths in USA. Top 250 hospitals of US have achieved patient safety
excellence award, which has a potential to save 2 billion of federal money and 22,771 deaths from
Medicare patients (Health Grades, 2009). Institute of medicine (IOM) has estimated that adverse
drug reactions cost 1.5 million to the govt.which can be reduced with proper interventions (Classen,
Jaser & Budnitz, 2010). Total cost due to medical errors is 29 bil–lion annually, which includes
costs due to medical bills and due to loss of income and other dis–abilities. Seeing the severity of
patient safety events, it is necessary for the hospitals to take proper steps towards patient safety.
Each step towards patient safety saves hundreds of lives and thousands of dollars. Preventable
medical errors affect the trust of patient on health care person–nel (Health Grade, 2009).
National patient safety goals
National patient safety goals were established in year 2002 to help

What I Have Learned Essay
What I Have Learned
When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in
this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe
that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to
also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I
could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted
anymore.
I also feel that maturing counts as learning for me because growing up I was continuously being
called immature. For me, maturing counts as learning because I find myself doing things I never
thought I...show more content...
I feel that I have to get rid of bad habits in order to make room for better habits that I need for
everyday life. I am learning better habits everyday. Even though I did bad on my first exam I feel
that counted as learning for me because now I know what it takes for me to receive a high grade on
any test I take.
The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to
learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in life. I am now beginning to understand the value
of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I
took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My
attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted.
In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating
me properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning
new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that
I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually
yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. Every assignment I have done in college is
teaching me something new. I think I feel this way because I am maturing and I now view learning
differently than I did

Educational Assessment Essay
Assessment is the systematic collection, review, and use of information about educational programs
undertaken for the purpose of improving student learning and development (Palomba & Banta,
1999). Educational assessments are carried out to measure the efficiency of the program, the quality
of instruction and progress of a child's learning. The purpose is to determine the growth and
development. There are several kinds of assessment carried out during a student's learning. These
include the placement assessment, formative assessment, and summative assessment. Learners
coming into the kindergarten class are often given a pre test or a placement assessment to evaluate
what the learner may already know or think about content that is to be...show more content...
How much each child has improved over time, gives the educators an opportunity to recognize
what modifications are needed to improve the student's achievement. e.g. if a child knows the
uppercase and lowercase alphabets very well then the teacher can move on to sounds of the
alphabet. On the other hand if the child is struggling to identify the alphabets then the teacher has
to come up with alternate ideas to modify her lesson plans. The school carries out assessment
twice a year. The mid year and end of the year assessment shows that the expectations from the
kindergarteners are slowly raised keeping in mind the consistency of the curriculum and the
objectives. An end of the year assessment clearly shows the child's expected familiarity and
independency in the subject. Objectives for the assessment The assessment is used to identify
the various skill levels of learners. There are four levels of expected growth chosen to meet the
objectives. Each level has a set of criteria and standards linked to learning objectives and a scoring
system to align it. In the above table, being able to identify two rhyming words in 3 out of 5
sentences assesses the success of rhyming in a sentence and gives the learner the highest score of 4.
For a learner who is able to identify 6 rhyming pairs, produce 6 ending sounds gets a score of 3. A
learner who is able to recognize 6 rhyming pairs is given a

  • 3. My Role As a Group Member Essay I used to believe that I did not perform very well in groups. I am an observer who likes to learn alone. I thought I learned best when I worked on my own. Even though I always knew group work had many positive values, I was more comfortable with the lecture–based approach and resisted group work merely because it involved change, not because it had a collaborative learning approach. However, during the learning community project, I came to realize that I learn more effectively when I work in groups. Working in a group was like an adventure for me; there were both exciting and challenging times while preparing for the learning community project. The original research question our group came up with was "How can an individual influence a ...show more content... During week 9, we posted the articles we thought would be useful to our research, which helped us to get information together without face–to–face meetings. We did not use the online workplace to plan the presentation; we only used it to get an understanding of what the others' focus was on the topic. After we finished our research, we met at the library to organize the presentation, power point, and plan each other's section in the presentation. We got everything done in three hours and had some time left over to practice the presentation. I would have taken at least three days to get that amount of work done by myself. It is amazing how much can be accomplished when people work together. Working as a group was an exciting activity; we were able to recognize each other's strengths, and help each other with our weaknesses. For example, I was better at making the power point, while someone else was much better at organizing information. One thing I realized from doing this project was that I was motivated. For example, group work helped me to stay motivated and focused on the topic even when the topic sometimes confused me. This is because group work allowed me to interact and discuss the topic with group members instead of just reading articles. Moreover, it forced me to be responsible to others and, frequently then, to do more and better work on the project than I might have done when only responsible Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Ted Talk Essay When it comes to choice it always seems to be a love hate relationship: we hate making them, but we can't live without them. Anyone can all look back to a time in our lives where they wish someone could just pick for us, or times when we wish there were more to choose from. All Americans have many choices, and it is such a part of our daily lives that we don't even realize it. Barry Schwartz and Sheena Iyengar's TED talks bring up interesting ideas about choice, how people deal with them and their affects. They both state that although choice is good, it can also have negative effects. Schwartz explains what most people believe and experience with choice, while Iyengar shows cultural differences in choice making. Both Schwartz and Iyengar...show more content... The second is the more choices the more likely that the best choice can be made, and the third assumption is that you should never say no to choice. Iyengard evaluates these three assumptions with various studies where one group is American and the other is another culture. Her studies help understand why and how Americans make choices in comparison to the rest of the world. Without doubt, Iyengard's studies and analysis on choice is interesting but Schwartz's was clearer because it easily communicated the message that was more applicable to the public. Choices are an important part of everyone's lives and the choices we make can reflex who we are as individuals. Choice and the ability to choose are excellent and can represent a sense of freedom. Schwartz's and Iyengard's analysis on choice focused on the effects of choice in people and how people react and deal with it. Schwartz's Official Dogma and explanation of how Americans act in response to choice making is the most relatable to individuals and clearly chows the consequences of too much choice. His analysis can assist to people realize that maybe because we have more choice doesn't necessarily mean we will make us happier or the best decision will be made. Understanding the consequences of too much choice can possibly make individuals improve the negative effects it can have and make us happier with our Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Nursing Discussion Essay My assumptions for nursing before walking into this course were that this profession focused on quality care for all different types of patients. I viewed nurses as someone who is brave, courageous, always up for a challenge, and compassionate. When I made my career choice to become a nurse, I thought their main jobs were to spend time with the patients, help them feel comfortable, provide them with medication that was ordered by their physician, and help patients with day to day tasks. I looked at nurses as someone who is like a close family member – specifically a mother. They provide you with all of the love and care that a mother can provide. My impression of nursing was that nurses were given a plan of treatment ordered by the physician...show more content... I feel that being present to watch new life come into this world is one of the greatest gifts. I find the female body to be truly fascinating. I also want to be a labor and delivery nurse because I want women to feel heard, comfortable, and cared for during one of their most exposed and vulnerable events. I always want them to look back and feel that besides their family, their nurse was their biggest supporter and cheerleader. Labor and delivery nurses can truly change a woman's birthing experience. I would also love to be able to go back to school to become a nursing professor. I have always had a thing for teaching and showing others and I feel that being a nursing professor would allow my life to feel more fulfilled. I want nursing students to enjoy their experience and feel confident in what they are learning and how they are performing. If I become a professor, I feel that I can provide that wisdom and enthusiasm to help them succeed. As a student myself, I really value the professors who speak about their personal journey through nursing school and I love when they give words of encouragement and wisdom. I feel it is important for students to see that even when the road seems closed off and impossible to get through, with a little pushing, there is always a way to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Lab Report Essay example LAB REPORT Introduction All living things contain organic molecules such as lipids, carbohydrates, proteins and acids. In order to detect the presence of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids we have to do experiments. The Iodine test is used to detect the presence of carbohydrates. This test is used to distinguish starch ( polysaccharide) from carbohydrates. Reaction between starch and Iodine produce a dark grey, black color and it means that the test is positive. A yellow color means that test is negative. But other polysaccharides may give other colors including blue or red. In order to detect the presence of glucose (monosaccharide) we have to use a Clinitest tablet. Clinitest tablets are usually used for urine sugar testing. If...show more content... Due to reaction Iodine +Starch color changed to black. After we added 5 drops of Iodine into tube B1 (3ml glucose) color turned yellow. Then we added Iodine into tube C1 (distilled water) and color in this tube also turned yellow. So now we can say that the test is positive for starch. According to this experiment water and glucose got the same color what means that the test for the tubes B1 and C1 is negative because water doesn't have anything inside. Iodine reacted with the starch and this reaction is positive for the polysaccharides (starch). After we added Get more content on HelpWriting.net

There was also concern if current education can develop a nurse's preparedness in delivering quality care (Griffiths et al, 2012). One of the participants stated "you might be the best clinician in the world but if you can't communicate and you can't listen properly to people and you don't take on board and understand what they're saying you may as well go dig the street" (Griffiths et al, 2012). Furthermore another participant stated "...each individual should be [evaluated] and their needs be assessed and implemented on that particular individual...I just feel it's a conveyor belt system. Get them in and get them out sort of thing" (Griffiths et al, 2012). In another qualitative review which explored nurse's perspectives on patient–centred care, suggested time management was the largest barrier preventing them from communicating effectively with their patients (Chan et al, 2012). One nurse stated "sometimes, I have to deal with 20 patients in one single shift... if one needs 10 minutes and there are 20 patients in total, how much time would we have to spend on this? Don't we need to do other tasks?" (Chan et al, 2012). • 8. Essay about Qualitative Analysis Discussion DISCUSSION: Qualitative analysis is used to determine the presence of cations or anions present within a sample and their impurities. Information known, such as chemical and physical properties, about cations and anions can be used to determine what steps should be used to separate the sample into one, specific ion. Qualitative analysis involves forming and decomposing complex ions. Qualitative tests are very sensitive, allowing to detect a very small amount present in sample. Due to sensitivity, cleaning utensils and accurate observations are essential to results. Many basic principles are applied to determine the impurities or cations. To determine which impurities are present, scheme or flow chart is followed. Scheme is used...show more content... In every step, there was a precipitate and supernatant liquid. This lead to students being able to determine which exact ion is present in solution. A solution containing three unknown ions (#3) was then tested. Procedure was carried out accordingly to lab manual. Determined ions present in solution were Fe3+, Cr3+, and Cu2+. The confirmatory test for Fe3+ that was used was , K4Fe(CN)6 add to a precipitate containing Fe3+. A dark blue precipitate formed which is a positive result, Fe3+ is present in this solution. Continuing procedure, Cr3+ presence was confirmed in step 9 by dissolving the precipitate with HNO3 then adding 5 drops of diphenycarbazide (dcp) solution. The supernatant was yellow then a sudden change to pretty, dark pink/purple after the first drop confirmed chromium presence. The reason for the color change is because chromium is reduced and dcp is oxidized. Further, along in the procedure, another positive test revealed the last ion present, Cu2+. The confirmatory test of copper revealed a positive result. This test was actually performed a couple of times to get a positive test due to skipping of a solution. Copper was confirmed by adding K4Fe(CN)6 to supernatant. A maroon precipitate formed, Cu2Fe(CN)6. Lastly, a solution containing four unknown ions (#6) was to be determined. The determined ions for solution #6 was iron (Fe3+), chromium (Cr3+), bismuth (Bi2+), and aluminum (Al3+). In step 5, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Patient Safety Essay Introduction Keeping patients safe is essential in today's health care system, but patient safety events that violate that safety are increasing each year. It was only recently, that the focus on patient safety was reinforced by a report prepared by Institute of medicine (IOM) entitled " To err is human, building a safer health system"(Wakefield & Iliffe,2002).This report found that approx–imately 44,000 to 98,000 deaths occur each year due to medical errors and that the majority was preventable. Top 250 hospitals of US have achieved patient safety excellence award, which has a potential to save 2 billion of federal money and 22,771 deaths from Medicare patients (Health Grades, 2009). Institute of medicine (IOM) has estimated that adverse drug reactions cost 1.5 million to the govt.which can be reduced with proper interventions (Classen, Jaser & Budnitz, 2010). Total cost due to medical errors is 29 bil–lion annually, which includes costs due to medical bills and due to loss of income and other dis–abilities. Seeing the severity of patient safety events, it is necessary for the hospitals to take proper steps towards patient safety. Each step towards patient safety saves hundreds of lives and thousands of dollars. Preventable medical errors affect the trust of patient on health care person–nel (Health Grade, 2009). I am now beginning to understand the value of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted. In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating me properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. • 11. Educational Assessment Essay Assessment is the systematic collection, review, and use of information about educational programs undertaken for the purpose of improving student learning and development (Palomba & Banta, 1999). Educational assessments are carried out to measure the efficiency of the program, the quality of instruction and progress of a child's learning. The purpose is to determine the growth and development. There are several kinds of assessment carried out during a student's learning. These include the placement assessment, formative assessment, and summative assessment. Learners coming into the kindergarten class are often given a pre test or a placement assessment to evaluate what the learner may already know or think about content that is to be...show more content... How much each child has improved over time, gives the educators an opportunity to recognize what modifications are needed to improve the student's achievement. e.g. if a child knows the uppercase and lowercase alphabets very well then the teacher can move on to sounds of the alphabet. On the other hand if the child is struggling to identify the alphabets then the teacher has to come up with alternate ideas to modify her lesson plans. The school carries out assessment twice a year. The mid year and end of the year assessment shows that the expectations from the kindergarteners are slowly raised keeping in mind the consistency of the curriculum and the objectives. An end of the year assessment clearly shows the child's expected familiarity and independency in the subject. Objectives for the assessment The assessment is used to identify the various skill levels of learners. There are four levels of expected growth chosen to meet the objectives. Each level has a set of criteria and standards linked to learning objectives and a scoring system to align it. In the above table, being able to identify two rhyming words in 3 out of 5 sentences assesses the success of rhyming in a sentence and gives the learner the highest score of 4. For a learner who is able to identify 6 rhyming pairs, produce 6 ending sounds gets a score of 3. A learner who is able to recognize 6 rhyming pairs is given a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
