Persuasive Essay About Responsibility
Have you ever read an unbelievable tragedy or accident that never should have happened in the
first place? How about devastated families who are blaming others for the death of a loved one? It
is essential that people in life or death situations should be held accountable for their situation no
matter what. People are able to choose where they go and what they do for fun, and a person's life is
their own life and shouldn't depend on others to save them. Not only that but people's actions can not
only harm themselves but others who didn't do anything. Because of these reasons, people need to
understand that they need to take responsibility for their troubles. First off, many people choose to
put themselves in survival situations and do daring actions when they know the risks themselves. In "
The Most Dangerous Game", an adventurer and hunter, Rainsford, is traveling the world but in the
process runs into another hunter who has created an unimaginable game of hunting humans for
amusement. This cruel being is a man named General Zarroff, who explains, "'Life is for the
strong, to be lived by the strong, and, if need be, taken by the strong. The weak of the world were
put here to give the strong pleasure. I am strong. Why should I not use my gift? If I wish to hunt,
why should I not? I hunt the scum of the earth–sailors from tramp ships–lascars, blacks, Chinese,
whites, mongrels–a thoroughbred horse or hound is worth more than a score of them'" (Connell 13).

Essay about WhatВґs Personal Responsibility
Personal responsibility to me means taking accountability for your own actions, Making a
commitment and sticking to it. In order to be a success in college, you have to apply your life
learned lessons to the equation, to balance both school and out of school priorities. Because You
are responsible for the choices you make, you are ultimately responsible for your success.
Becoming a master organizer and learning how to manage your time efficiently, will help you
achieve your goals. Taking responsibility for all that happens while you are in college will help
you prevail in areas, where you may have lacked confidence. Critical thinking and a desire to
succeed will help you accomplish your goals. When it comes to our personal and...show more

Because I did not want to let my boss down, I would get into this zone, where I would not see or
hear anyone, and prepare to execute my excitement because under pressure and much stress, I
completed my task. The negative stress in your life could be hard to eliminate if you do not find
a positive replacement. According to Lucas McCain (2012),"Stress Management: 101 Best Ways
to Relieve Stress and Really Live Life" (pg 64) " The important thing here is to find your particular
negative coping strategy and address your stress, and replace your strategy with a positive one that
address that same stress." Self– Discipline and scheduling effectively are critical factors when it
comes to successfully managing your time. Having self–discipline is a vital necessity, when you are
preparing for college success. Deciding to study for an important exam, or hanging out with friends,
will need to be carefully decided. If you chose the obvious, Studying, you'd eliminate unwanted
stress like, cramming days before the exam. Being self–Disciplined means you have control over
your behavior and you do not make decisions on impulse, instead you make your decisions
logically. Accomplish everything you can complete today and do not put it off for tomorrow.
Creating an effective schedule will be a helpful tool when it comes to your college success. In order

Personal Responsibility
To be successful you must be responsible for your actions. Personal responsibility is having integrity,
and taking ownership for your actions. Doing the right thing will demonstrate being personally
responsible and will result in a successful experience in life.
Personal responsibility is taking ownership of your thoughts and actions. To me, personal
responsibility is having integrity. What I mean by this is being trustworthy, to do the right thing all
the time. For example, plagiarizing work, if someone is trustworthy they will do their own work,
rather than copy someone else's and turning that work in for a grade. If someone is to have
integrity, they will also report any wrong doings that they are aware of. If you know of someone
that is cheating or plagiarizing and you do not report the incident, you are just as much at fault as
the other person. Above would be another example of what I believe personal responsibility means,
doing the right thing even though it may not be the popular thing to do. Accountability is another
trait of being personally responsible. Being accountable means not blaming others for your choices
or lack of choices. If you choose not to complete an assignment it is your own fault and there is no
one to blame but...show more content...
Being accountable for your actions or lack of actions will show that you are responsible. Without
being responsible you will not be successful in college, which means that the best decisions for
you were not made. You must relate responsibility to success in college as well as in society. Set a
plan for success. You must set a plan for yourself that will ensure that you have the ability to reach
any and all of your goals. All in all, if you follow you are a responsible individual there in nothing
that you cannot accomplish. By planning to succeed you are already on the right

The ultimate word in life is "responsibility". What is responsibility you ask? Responsibility is "doing
the right thing". Doing the right thing means living a life where every move or decision you make
is all your own and you do things that will not harm others. It is a moral belief that as individuals
we must behave ethical and be accountable for our actions, and be conscious of our decisions and
the impact it has on society. In today's world I believe we have even more responsibilities then our
ancestors. If we do not take responsibility for our actions...show more content...
So many people believe freedom means you have the right to do as you please, however, that is
not 100% true. As soon as you stop taking responsibility for what you do in life, it is almost
certain you will be doing things that will be harmful to others. This is why it is so important to
have laws that society must abide by. As an example, let's say you are having a get together and
you have you stereo on a little too loud. To you and the people attending your party the music is
just fine, but to your neighbors it is entirely too loud and disruptive. Wouldn't you be a responsible
person if you made sure that the music was loud enough for you and your guests to enjoy, but not
too loud that it would annoy your neighbors? Responsibility Page 4
When one recognizes that they are 100% responsible for their life, they will soon see the great
achievements that come with being a responsible person. Responsibility is a very valuable trait in
all that we do. Taking responsibility for one's self leads to a more optimistic life and one is able
to accomplish all that they want. Sometimes taking responsibility can be a very difficult thing, but
in the end one is usually happy that they did. If one chose's to lead an irresponsible life, they will
soon see that they will be living a much uncontrolled life and therefore grow to be very pessimistic.
One's health is also affected by the choices one makes. When we choose

Although personal responsibility is a perception of ideas or standards established by society,
personal success depends upon personal responsibility because it promotes accountability and also
reflects on the accountability in our professional lives.
Upholding personal responsibility is the key to success in any type of environment. It is the
commitment to ourselves telling us to get out of bed to get ready for work or to go to class. On the
other hand, personal responsibility is the acceptance of failure to accomplish the task that we are
obligated to. As a college level student, we know...show more content...
The last element I want to discuss because I believe it is the most important concerning personal
responsibility, is attitude. Possessing a positive attitude holds everything together. "Attitude
represents that connection between mind, heart, and body" (Ursiny, DeMoss, & Ybaben, 2008). You
can possess every other kind of quality and apply whatever kind of strategy you like but without a
positive attitude you will get nowhere. Every day we come across conflict and deal with negative
people who will try to make you feel less attractive, less intelligent, and lesser of just about
everything. This kind of negativity spreads like wild fire. Refrain from too much exposure to this
and keep in mind other people do not dictate the outcome of your life. Positive attitudes do not
come easy though. It is a training process of the mind. Every day, the moment you open your eyes
tell yourself this will be a good day full of learning and meeting new people and ask yourself "how
will I better myself and those around me today?" Keep this type of thinking in mind and be the
positive influence where ever you are and people to take notice. They will be more likely to help
you, want to work with you and be wherever you are. Even if for nobody else, you owe it to yourself
to have a positive attitude and to enjoy all endeavors of life.
In conclusion, although personal responsibility is broad term used to describe a set of standards, by

Summary The relationship between people and the environment has always been about ones level of
responsibility. No matter what your belief, each and every one of us is responsible for how we use

responsibility to the environment?" says, "In order to understand our responsibility, it is important to
comprehend the original relationship between man and nature. Genesis 1:26–28 tells us that God
created man and woman in His image and gave them dominion over all the earth. This included all
the animals that God had created as well as the entire earth. God also charged their descendants with
the care for all the earth (Gen. 1:28). Even after the curse, God never withdrew this responsibility.
We must care for the world that God has given to us. Although Scriptures are in general agreement
with many of the ecology groups that man is responsible for his environment, Christians may

Being Responsible Essay: Being Irresponsible
Being Responsible There are many things in this world that concern me. I am concerned about
all the bad things that happen all around the world, such as crimes and natural disasters. However,
what is on my mind is how irresponsible so many people are. Fortunately, I have not let the
influence of others affect how responsible or not I am. I like to think that I am my own person.
No one can make me a certain way. I am myself, and that is how I like it. Many people comment
on how responsible I am, but sometimes not in a good way. They'll call me things like
"goody–two–shoes" or "overachiever." They try to put me down for doing the right thing, just
because that is not how they do things. Like I said though, I have not and will not let them influence
me into being irresponsible. If there is something I need to get done, it definitely gets done. My

When I obey them, they give me the respect that I want and deserve, and if I finish everything, they
might even reward me with something random like letting me go out with friends or paying me.
Responsibility really does pay off, literally. Also, I make sure not to hang out around people who
are not the best influences. People who do drugs, steal, or make any other bad decisions I know I
should not be around. I am not going to be a person that takes drugs and drinks alcohol. I want to
be a responsible person and not let any of that take over my life. If anyone ever offers me to do
any of those things, I will be responsible by simply saying no, and if they keep asking, I will just
take them out of my life. I believe that responsibility is one of my good traits. Being responsible
has a better chance of getting me somewhere in life than being irresponsible does. To get anywhere

anyone can depend on you. I honestly think that being responsible these days is a

Being the oldest child has had a huge impact on who I am today. I have to be responsible and

especially when different thoughts go through people's minds when they hear the word.
To most people, when they hear people mention the word responsible they often assume that they
did something wrong. For example, when teachers say, "Who is responsible for this," people
believe that someone has done something wrong. In my eyes, that is not how I see myself at all.
Teachers usually tell me to watch the class if they step out because of my responsibility skills. I have

Media and Its Responsibilities Essay
Mass Media: A platform to give strength to the weak or a loaded gun in the hands of humanity?
"The media's the most powerful entity on earth...because they control the minds of the masses"
(Malcom X, 2012). Media has responsibilities and these responsibilities need to be clarified and
upheld by society. Unfortunately, media today does not abide by moral standards, which in turn
sends mixed messages to our society. Often times these messages are demoralizing, desensitizing,
and false. Young people and adults alike are trying to navigate through their lives and through the
world with a broken compass. The role media plays in issues such as self–worth, bullying, and
suicide need to be addressed and revised. I will discuss media and...show more content...
The people of today and the generations of tomorrow will all benefit by this change and live by

virtues really are as well as reestablishing the core of moral virtues before blasting toxic content
greatly raises the chances that society will actually care. Truly virtuous peoples have proper
motives. With this in mind, people are truly driven by their inner virtues; their heart, their desire,
their belief, their determination, their decision, their vision, and their dream. Unfortunately,
statistics and media alike do not take these crucial, solid, and powerful inner virtues into
consideration. Media needs to focus more on the inside and less about the outside, hence, proper
motives. One branch of media that pops in mind when I think of proper motives is The Biggest
Loser. This is media and virtues at its best. This show brings lies to the front light and holds people
accountable, something that media does only part of the time and in a narrated voice. The
contestants on The Biggest Loser are put together from all different places and back grounds. One
factor that the contestants all share is coming to know the show and its raw positive results, with the
help from mass media. This brings hope to the table. This brings the hope that a virtuous person can

Roles and Responsibilities
This essay is to evaluate what your role, responsibilities and boundaries as a teacher would be in
terms of the teaching/training cycle.
In order for one to completely explore the task expected from the author, it is paramount to
understand the meaning of the terminology used in this essay.
The author begins by giving a brief definition of "role".
According to the dictionary, role is defined as one's part, expected function, job, duty, task,
responsibility. Readers' digest. Whilst, online dictionary, Encarta (1998–2005) claim added that,

Business and Social Responsibility Essay
Business and Social Responsibility It is widely known that for a business to be successful it
needs to provide a good or service that is desired by the public and also to obtain a profit in
providing said good or service. Now while these are the most important components to a successful
business, they are not the only ones. The social responsibilities of a business include the following:
environmental protection and preservation, employee safety and morale, product safety for the
consumer. The financial manager must keep these three social responsibilities in mind when making
any and all decisions. The environment has become a big issue over the last 30–40 years, especially
for the businesses that may negatively affect it....show more content...
In turn this bad publicity has negatively affected the business and in a lot of cases, caused the
business to fade away. It is the job of the financial manager to oversee these environmental issues
and make socially responsible decisions not only to avoid bad publicity, but to do their part in aiding
the environment in a financially sound manner.
A business's employees are probably the most important part of the organization. In short, if there is
something that hinders the performance of the employees the whole company suffers. Providing a
safe and stimulating work environment is another thing that a financial manager should do to
efficiently and effectively turn out a superior product. By keeping employee accidents to a minimum
a business will avoid costly lawsuits and down–time.
Every business must realize that an unsafe product will not last in the open market and will, in the
long run, cost more money to correct. The financial manager must understand that, above all, the
product must be safe. He/she must decide the most cost–effective manner to manufacture the product
and also have it deemed safe to use. I believe that this detail of product safety should be addressed
very early on in the production process, as should the other two.
In conclusion, a business has an obligation to return something to society. Although the financial
manager's main purpose is to acquire and control funds efficiently and effectively to maximize

Short Stories : Personal Responsibility
Do you feel an obligation to think about other people's welfare? If you do, how far does that
responsibility extend? Are you responsible for a sibling, a neighbor, or even a stranger across the
world? The short stories I read help me think about the world around me and enlighten my
understanding of my personal responsibility to others. First, these short stories show personal
responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed
members of society. Second, the short stories I read helped me think about to what extent should
we be driven by personal responsibility to act with compassion, empathy, and concern for others.
Finally, short stories exemplify how we are personally responsible for our friends and how we live
our own lives.
First, short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible
for the weaker or oppressed members of society.Throughout the short stories, I have seen how the
weaker and oppressed member of society are being helped. For example, in the short story, the
"Scarlet Ibis", the narrator has a responsibility, given to him by his mother, to help his younger
brother who cannot care for himself. As the narrator says in the story, "It seemed so hopeless from

What Is Responsibility Essay
Responsibility Essay
Responsibility in a person is a must as they can be more trusting and dependable if they have even
the slightest amount of responsibility unlike those who don't have any they can be lacking in many
things and most people will see them as drags on society. Not only that, but they seem to have
negative impressions with everyone else as they do not really help contribute to the betterment of
mankind but that is how most people act in today's world. But they still seem to go on and make the
best of the day that they can. Responsibility is hard for a lot of people, it puts stress on you and
makes people think you're dependent so they might start asking more from you. That saying, my

problem, but at the moment my friend most likely would be uneasy about letting me watch his
house. Another thing if I was more responsible I could help my community and make sure it is a
better place to live. This would not only be beneficial to others, but my self–esteem may be raised
by this effort. Finally, I would have more friends and maybe be more popular than I already am as
I could be more outgoing and adventure out of my safe zone so I may get noticed more often.

Personal Responsibility And Social Responsibility
Democracy means government by the people, which is people participate in every action and
makes decision. The system of democracy gave us many opportunities, such as the right to vote,
the right to speech, the right to religion and others. In the Democracy system responsibility have a
big place, personal responsibility and social responsibility of its citizen have a big effect on the
decision of the political process. Every four years there is an election and there are different
candidates, who run for president with different ideas and goals. The people can viewed the
candidates ideas and goals in different ways, or they may agree all together by some ideas. But
there is always different point of view of the candidates from different people, which makes the
political system more diverse. People have the right to vote and choose their president to lead them
to the highest achievement, but many people are not using their right. Votingis one of the personal
responsibility of one citizen, and also participating in the political, social life. We watch and heard
on TV and radio or on social medias, different candidates talking about political, social,
environmental and continental topics. We can elect only one candidate to be a president, and we

Responsibility In The Crucible
"You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today."– Abraham Lincoln
Responsibility is a huge part of a person's everyday life. Generally most people will take
responsibility for their actions. In Arthur Miller's The Crucible the theme of responsibility is spread
positively throughout the play. The play focuses around the Salem Witch, where Abigail Williams,
her friends, the Proctors and a few others are the main focus. John Proctor is married to Elizabeth
Proctor. Abigail Williams was their maid for many months before Elizabeth kicked her out. John
had cheated on his wife with Abigail, and Elizabeth had somehow found out. He knows what he's
done was wrong, but some nights he finds himself outside of Abigail's window. Abigail knows
this. She becomes obsessed with him and the idea that they're going to be together. "But I will cut

this and later at dinner, she stabs herself with a needle and accuses Elizabeth of doing so. This

I meant no harm by it, sir." Mary admits that the doll is hers, and tells Cheever that the cries of
witchery are all pretense. This all leads to John convincing her to tell the truth. Mary tries to take
responsibility, to help, but nobody believed her. Even though she did take responsibility for her
actions, Mary had to lie in the end to save herself. The Crucible shows responsibility in both
negative and positive ways. This theme plays a huge part in the story. A lot of the characters really
developed and learned that sometimes they have to take responsibility for their actions. Even if it

Responsibility Actuality
College students are plagued by too much time on their hands. The average college stereotype is
kids who spend too much money, drink too much booze, and party too hard. While this isn't true
of all college students, as many work very hard to get good grades, get degrees, and have a life,
it's true of enough of them that the stereotype does prove itself true quite often. This is the
problem that Dave Eggers postulates a way of solving in his essay Serve Or Fail. Eggers' idea of
making public service volunteering a mandatory part of your college education is brilliant and would
no doubt aid in many areas of College student's lives.
According to Eggers, "...students saw [...] hours in need of killing – as opposed to...show more

There's the chance as well that the student, perhaps someone with an undecided major, will
encounter something that will help them make their decision once and for all. Maybe, as Eggers
says, "A college history major might learn something by tutoring a local middle school class that's
studying the Underground Railroad. A connection would be forged; a potential career might be
discovered" (584). But perhaps beyond that, having that sort of practical experience will aid students
in other ways – preparing them for life beyond college in a way that none of them are currently.
Eggers says,
"...while colleges give their students the intellectual tools for life beyond campus, they largely ignore
the part about how they might contribute to the world. That is, until the commencement speech, at
which time all the "go forth's" and "be helpful's" happen" (585).
So perhaps instituting a mandatory service for graduation program would do more than simply give
the students something nice to go on their resumes – but perhaps it would also aid them in deciding
on a major or even a career. In other words, it would help ensure their future once they're out of
college and into the "real world."
Such programs are already in place in many institutes of higher education, and even in high schools.
And in 2003, Michael R. Veon, a Democrat and a member of Pennsylvania's House Of
representatives, introduced a bill

trusted. It means I have can manage how you act. This means I can own up to what I did. This
day was my day to own up, and say what I did wrong. On Mondays, students go to school looking
like zombies. The teachers are looking extremely irritable. In the classrooms there was no energy.
Monday was the worst Monday of the year so far. My Monday went from bad to worse.I'm patiently
waiting for my bus to get to my house so I can go get some food and go to sleep. As soon as my bus
comes to a halt I start to pat my pants for my key. It wasn't in any of my pockets. All

Responsibility, It Is Personal

Responsibility, It Is Personal
The term Personal responsibility can be defined in many ways, yet there is no one definite
definition. To be personally responsible, one would first have to have the ability to be accountable
for ones actions. Everyone is raised in their own unique atmosphere, and the levels of responsibility
introduced during that upbringing will vary largely. For some people, the concept of personal
responsibility will be introduced at a very young age, for example a young child learning to play a
musical instrument, or competing in a dance performance. Other children will learn personal
responsibility very late in life, usually due to tragedy, or a...show more content...
When one fails to take personal responsibility for their education, it can lead to receiving a failing
grade for the course, suspension, and even expulsion. Taking personal responsibility for one's
education is more than attending class. You must be responsible for understanding the intended
objective of the class, or classes. You must be responsible for submitting your work, and assuring
that that work is not plagiarized. You must also be responsible for preparing for exams. When some
or all of these areas are neglected, one is due to fail in completing their education.
Unfortunately, when one fails to meet the obligations of fulfilling their duties as a student, it can
affect their financial aid. This is also an ongoing problem within our education systems today. If a
student defaults on their school loans, they become another digit in the statistics of loan default.
Once a school district reaches a certain level, the opportunity for another student to receive financial
assistance ceases. "More than 66 percent of loan volume issued through the federal
guaranteed–student–loan program to students at Bennett in the 2006 fiscal year went through Sallie
Mae, according to data compiled by Student Marketmeasure." (Hermes, 2008).
Even though we need to ask for help when we cannot be responsible, it is everyone's responsibility
to acquire needed assistance. Without personal responsibility, we cannot achieve greatness and when
we fail to be

Essays About Responsibility

  • 1. Persuasive Essay About Responsibility Have you ever read an unbelievable tragedy or accident that never should have happened in the first place? How about devastated families who are blaming others for the death of a loved one? It is essential that people in life or death situations should be held accountable for their situation no matter what. People are able to choose where they go and what they do for fun, and a person's life is their own life and shouldn't depend on others to save them. Not only that but people's actions can not only harm themselves but others who didn't do anything. Because of these reasons, people need to understand that they need to take responsibility for their troubles. First off, many people choose to put themselves in survival situations and do daring actions when they know the risks themselves. In " The Most Dangerous Game", an adventurer and hunter, Rainsford, is traveling the world but in the process runs into another hunter who has created an unimaginable game of hunting humans for amusement. This cruel being is a man named General Zarroff, who explains, "'Life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and, if need be, taken by the strong. The weak of the world were put here to give the strong pleasure. I am strong. Why should I not use my gift? If I wish to hunt, why should I not? I hunt the scum of the earth–sailors from tramp ships–lascars, blacks, Chinese, whites, mongrels–a thoroughbred horse or hound is worth more than a score of them'" (Connell 13). • 2. Essay about WhatВґs Personal Responsibility Personal responsibility to me means taking accountability for your own actions, Making a commitment and sticking to it. In order to be a success in college, you have to apply your life learned lessons to the equation, to balance both school and out of school priorities. Because You are responsible for the choices you make, you are ultimately responsible for your success. Becoming a master organizer and learning how to manage your time efficiently, will help you achieve your goals. Taking responsibility for all that happens while you are in college will help you prevail in areas, where you may have lacked confidence. Critical thinking and a desire to succeed will help you accomplish your goals. When it comes to our personal and...show more content... Because I did not want to let my boss down, I would get into this zone, where I would not see or hear anyone, and prepare to execute my excitement because under pressure and much stress, I completed my task. The negative stress in your life could be hard to eliminate if you do not find a positive replacement. According to Lucas McCain (2012),"Stress Management: 101 Best Ways to Relieve Stress and Really Live Life" (pg 64) " The important thing here is to find your particular negative coping strategy and address your stress, and replace your strategy with a positive one that address that same stress." Self– Discipline and scheduling effectively are critical factors when it comes to successfully managing your time. Having self–discipline is a vital necessity, when you are preparing for college success. Deciding to study for an important exam, or hanging out with friends, will need to be carefully decided. If you chose the obvious, Studying, you'd eliminate unwanted stress like, cramming days before the exam. Being self–Disciplined means you have control over your behavior and you do not make decisions on impulse, instead you make your decisions logically. Accomplish everything you can complete today and do not put it off for tomorrow. Creating an effective schedule will be a helpful tool when it comes to your college success. • 3. Examples Of Personal Responsibility John DeManuelle 3/17/18 Personal Responsibility To be successful you must be responsible for your actions. Personal responsibility is having integrity, and taking ownership for your actions. Doing the right thing will demonstrate being personally responsible and will result in a successful experience in life. Personal responsibility is taking ownership of your thoughts and actions. To me, personal responsibility is having integrity. What I mean by this is being trustworthy, to do the right thing all the time. For example, plagiarizing work, if someone is trustworthy they will do their own work, rather than copy someone else's and turning that work in for a grade. If someone is to have integrity, they will also report any wrong doings that they are aware of. If you know of someone that is cheating or plagiarizing and you do not report the incident, you are just as much at fault as the other person. Above would be another example of what I believe personal responsibility means, doing the right thing even though it may not be the popular thing to do. Accountability is another trait of being personally responsible. Being accountable means not blaming others for your choices or lack of choices. If you choose not to complete an assignment it is your own fault and there is no one to blame but...show more content... Being accountable for your actions or lack of actions will show that you are responsible. Without being responsible you will not be successful in college, which means that the best decisions for you were not made. You must relate responsibility to success in college as well as in society. Set a plan for success. You must set a plan for yourself that will ensure that you have the ability to reach any and all of your goals. All in all, if you follow you are a responsible individual there in nothing that you cannot accomplish. By planning to succeed you are already on the right Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Definition Essay Karen Bannan Writing 101 Professor Leone January 30, 2011 Responsibility Page 2 The ultimate word in life is "responsibility". What is responsibility you ask? Responsibility is "doing the right thing". Doing the right thing means living a life where every move or decision you make is all your own and you do things that will not harm others. It is a moral belief that as individuals we must behave ethical and be accountable for our actions, and be conscious of our decisions and the impact it has on society. In today's world I believe we have even more responsibilities then our ancestors. If we do not take responsibility for our actions...show more content... So many people believe freedom means you have the right to do as you please, however, that is not 100% true. As soon as you stop taking responsibility for what you do in life, it is almost certain you will be doing things that will be harmful to others. This is why it is so important to have laws that society must abide by. As an example, let's say you are having a get together and you have you stereo on a little too loud. To you and the people attending your party the music is just fine, but to your neighbors it is entirely too loud and disruptive. Wouldn't you be a responsible person if you made sure that the music was loud enough for you and your guests to enjoy, but not too loud that it would annoy your neighbors? Responsibility Page 4 When one recognizes that they are 100% responsible for their life, they will soon see the great achievements that come with being a responsible person. Responsibility is a very valuable trait in all that we do. Taking responsibility for one's self leads to a more optimistic life and one is able to accomplish all that they want. Sometimes taking responsibility can be a very difficult thing, but in the end one is usually happy that they did. If one chose's to lead an irresponsible life, they will soon see that they will be living a much uncontrolled life and therefore grow to be very pessimistic. One's health is also affected by the choices one makes. When we choose Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Personal Responsibility Personal Responsibility by Stephen Bruce Foundations for General Education and Professional Success (Gen200) 04/15/2013 Dr. Annette Roter Although personal responsibility is a perception of ideas or standards established by society, personal success depends upon personal responsibility because it promotes accountability and also reflects on the accountability in our professional lives. Upholding personal responsibility is the key to success in any type of environment. It is the commitment to ourselves telling us to get out of bed to get ready for work or to go to class. On the other hand, personal responsibility is the acceptance of failure to accomplish the task that we are obligated to. As a college level student, we know...show more content... The last element I want to discuss because I believe it is the most important concerning personal responsibility, is attitude. Possessing a positive attitude holds everything together. "Attitude represents that connection between mind, heart, and body" (Ursiny, DeMoss, & Ybaben, 2008). You can possess every other kind of quality and apply whatever kind of strategy you like but without a positive attitude you will get nowhere. Every day we come across conflict and deal with negative people who will try to make you feel less attractive, less intelligent, and lesser of just about everything. This kind of negativity spreads like wild fire. Refrain from too much exposure to this and keep in mind other people do not dictate the outcome of your life. Positive attitudes do not come easy though. It is a training process of the mind. Every day, the moment you open your eyes tell yourself this will be a good day full of learning and meeting new people and ask yourself "how will I better myself and those around me today?" Keep this type of thinking in mind and be the positive influence where ever you are and people to take notice. They will be more likely to help you, want to work with you and be wherever you are. Even if for nobody else, you owe it to yourself to have a positive attitude and to enjoy all endeavors of life. No matter what your belief, each and every one of us is responsible for how we use the resources this planet provides. Mark Van Bebber, in his essay, "What is man's responsibility to the environment?" says, "In order to understand our responsibility, it is important to comprehend the original relationship between man and nature. Genesis 1:26–28 tells us that God created man and woman in His image and gave them dominion over all the earth. This included all the animals that God had created as well as the entire earth. God also charged their descendants with the care for all the earth (Gen. 1:28). Even after the curse, God never withdrew this responsibility. We must care for the world that God has given to us. • 7. Being Responsible Essay: Being Irresponsible Being Responsible There are many things in this world that concern me. I am concerned about all the bad things that happen all around the world, such as crimes and natural disasters. However, what is on my mind is how irresponsible so many people are. Fortunately, I have not let the influence of others affect how responsible or not I am. I like to think that I am my own person. No one can make me a certain way. I am myself, and that is how I like it. Many people comment on how responsible I am, but sometimes not in a good way. They'll call me things like "goody–two–shoes" or "overachiever." They try to put me down for doing the right thing, just because that is not how they do things. Like I said though, I have not and will not let them influence me into being irresponsible. If there is something I need to get done, it definitely gets done. My ...show more content... When I obey them, they give me the respect that I want and deserve, and if I finish everything, they might even reward me with something random like letting me go out with friends or paying me. Responsibility really does pay off, literally. Also, I make sure not to hang out around people who are not the best influences. People who do drugs, steal, or make any other bad decisions I know I should not be around. I am not going to be a person that takes drugs and drinks alcohol. I want to be a responsible person and not let any of that take over my life. If anyone ever offers me to do any of those things, I will be responsible by simply saying no, and if they keep asking, I will just take them out of my life. I believe that responsibility is one of my good traits. Being responsible has a better chance of getting me somewhere in life than being irresponsible does. To get anywhere in life, people have to trust you and depend on you, and being irresponsible does not prove that anyone can depend on you. My actions play a role on how I show off my responsibility. I am responsible in any shape, way, or form because I love it when everything around me is neat, clean, done on time, and organized. Being responsible is not an easy aspect especially when different thoughts go through people's minds when they hear the word. To most people, when they hear people mention the word responsible they often assume that they did something wrong. For example, when teachers say, "Who is responsible for this," people believe that someone has done something wrong. In my eyes, that is not how I see myself at all. Teachers usually tell me to watch the class if they step out because of my responsibility skills. I have learned that when someone trusts me or holds me responsible for something and I do not do it, I lose that person's trust and it would be very hard to get that trust back. If they have projects I will make sure that I give them creative ideas since I have had the most experience. • 9. Media and Its Responsibilities Essay Mass Media: A platform to give strength to the weak or a loaded gun in the hands of humanity? "The media's the most powerful entity on earth...because they control the minds of the masses" (Malcom X, 2012). Media has responsibilities and these responsibilities need to be clarified and upheld by society. Unfortunately, media today does not abide by moral standards, which in turn sends mixed messages to our society. Often times these messages are demoralizing, desensitizing, and false. Young people and adults alike are trying to navigate through their lives and through the world with a broken compass. The role media plays in issues such as self–worth, bullying, and suicide need to be addressed and revised. I will discuss media and...show more content... The people of today and the generations of tomorrow will all benefit by this change and live by higher morals and standards. Going social with content gives it a better chance of being seen, but a more collective approach to understanding people and coming to a realization of what true virtues really are as well as reestablishing the core of moral virtues before blasting toxic content greatly raises the chances that society will actually care. Truly virtuous peoples have proper motives. With this in mind, people are truly driven by their inner virtues; their heart, their desire, their belief, their determination, their decision, their vision, and their dream. Unfortunately, statistics and media alike do not take these crucial, solid, and powerful inner virtues into consideration. Media needs to focus more on the inside and less about the outside, hence, proper motives. One branch of media that pops in mind when I think of proper motives is The Biggest Loser. This is media and virtues at its best. This show brings lies to the front light and holds people accountable, something that media does only part of the time and in a narrated voice. The contestants on The Biggest Loser are put together from all different places and back grounds. One factor that the contestants all share is coming to know the show and its raw positive results, with the help from mass media. This brings hope to the table. This brings the hope that a virtuous person can indeed Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Business and Social Responsibility Essay Business and Social Responsibility It is widely known that for a business to be successful it needs to provide a good or service that is desired by the public and also to obtain a profit in providing said good or service. Now while these are the most important components to a successful business, they are not the only ones. The social responsibilities of a business include the following: environmental protection and preservation, employee safety and morale, product safety for the consumer. The financial manager must keep these three social responsibilities in mind when making any and all decisions. The environment has become a big issue over the last 30–40 years, especially for the businesses that may negatively affect it....show more content... In turn this bad publicity has negatively affected the business and in a lot of cases, caused the business to fade away. It is the job of the financial manager to oversee these environmental issues and make socially responsible decisions not only to avoid bad publicity, but to do their part in aiding the environment in a financially sound manner. A business's employees are probably the most important part of the organization. In short, if there is something that hinders the performance of the employees the whole company suffers. Providing a safe and stimulating work environment is another thing that a financial manager should do to efficiently and effectively turn out a superior product. By keeping employee accidents to a minimum a business will avoid costly lawsuits and down–time. Every business must realize that an unsafe product will not last in the open market and will, in the long run, cost more money to correct. The financial manager must understand that, above all, the product must be safe. He/she must decide the most cost–effective manner to manufacture the product and also have it deemed safe to use. I believe that this detail of product safety should be addressed very early on in the production process, as should the other two. In conclusion, a business has an obligation to return something to society. Although the financial manager's main purpose is to acquire and control funds efficiently and effectively to maximize Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Short Stories : Personal Responsibility Do you feel an obligation to think about other people's welfare? If you do, how far does that responsibility extend? Are you responsible for a sibling, a neighbor, or even a stranger across the world? The short stories I read help me think about the world around me and enlighten my understanding of my personal responsibility to others. First, these short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed members of society. Second, the short stories I read helped me think about to what extent should we be driven by personal responsibility to act with compassion, empathy, and concern for others. Finally, short stories exemplify how we are personally responsible for our friends and how we live our own lives. First, short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed members of society.Throughout the short stories, I have seen how the weaker and oppressed member of society are being helped. For example, in the short story, the "Scarlet Ibis", the narrator has a responsibility, given to him by his mother, to help his younger brother who cannot care for himself. As the narrator says in the story, "It seemed so hopeless from the beginning that it's a miracle I didn't give up. • 13. What Is Responsibility Essay Responsibility Essay Responsibility in a person is a must as they can be more trusting and dependable if they have even the slightest amount of responsibility unlike those who don't have any they can be lacking in many things and most people will see them as drags on society. Not only that, but they seem to have negative impressions with everyone else as they do not really help contribute to the betterment of mankind but that is how most people act in today's world. But they still seem to go on and make the best of the day that they can. Responsibility is hard for a lot of people, it puts stress on you and makes people think you're dependent so they might start asking more from you. This would not only be beneficial to others, but my self–esteem may be raised by this effort. Finally, I would have more friends and maybe be more popular than I already am as I could be more outgoing and adventure out of my safe zone so I may get noticed more often. In the Democracy system responsibility have a big place, personal responsibility and social responsibility of its citizen have a big effect on the decision of the political process. Every four years there is an election and there are different candidates, who run for president with different ideas and goals. The people can viewed the candidates ideas and goals in different ways, or they may agree all together by some ideas. But there is always different point of view of the candidates from different people, which makes the political system more diverse. The age of responsibility has changed over time but relies heavily on laws, culture, and location. The age of maturity that we follow is not reliable. People are not mature enough to be considered an adult until the age of 25. The stage of adulthood we live by is outdated and unjustified by science. The age of responsibility and maturity is based on an outdated system referring back to the middle ages. According to the article What is the Age of Responsibility by Alan Greeblatt "legend has it that 21 was considered the age of adulthood because that is when men are capable of wearing a full suit of armor." • 17. Responsibility In The Crucible "You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today."– Abraham Lincoln Responsibility is a huge part of a person's everyday life. Generally most people will take responsibility for their actions. In Arthur Miller's The Crucible the theme of responsibility is spread positively throughout the play. The play focuses around the Salem Witch, where Abigail Williams, her friends, the Proctors and a few others are the main focus. John Proctor is married to Elizabeth Proctor. Abigail Williams was their maid for many months before Elizabeth kicked her out. John had cheated on his wife with Abigail, and Elizabeth had somehow found out. He knows what he's done was wrong, but some nights he finds himself outside of Abigail's window. Abigail knows this. She becomes obsessed with him and the idea that they're going to be together. Mary admits that the doll is hers, and tells Cheever that the cries of witchery are all pretense. This all leads to John convincing her to tell the truth. Mary tries to take responsibility, to help, but nobody believed her. Even though she did take responsibility for her actions, Mary had to lie in the end to save herself. The Crucible shows responsibility in both negative and positive ways. This theme plays a huge part in the story. • 18. Responsibility Essay Responsibility Actuality College students are plagued by too much time on their hands. The average college stereotype is kids who spend too much money, drink too much booze, and party too hard. While this isn't true of all college students, as many work very hard to get good grades, get degrees, and have a life, it's true of enough of them that the stereotype does prove itself true quite often. This is the problem that Dave Eggers postulates a way of solving in his essay Serve Or Fail. Eggers' idea of making public service volunteering a mandatory part of your college education is brilliant and would no doubt aid in many areas of College student's lives. According to Eggers, "...students saw [...] hours in need of killing – as opposed to...show more content... There's the chance as well that the student, perhaps someone with an undecided major, will encounter something that will help them make their decision once and for all. Maybe, as Eggers says, "A college history major might learn something by tutoring a local middle school class that's studying the Underground Railroad. A connection would be forged; a potential career might be discovered" (584). But perhaps beyond that, having that sort of practical experience will aid students in other ways – preparing them for life beyond college in a way that none of them are currently. Eggers says, "...while colleges give their students the intellectual tools for life beyond campus, they largely ignore the part about how they might contribute to the world. That is, until the commencement speech, at which time all the "go forth's" and "be helpful's" happen" (585). So perhaps instituting a mandatory service for graduation program would do more than simply give the students something nice to go on their resumes – but perhaps it would also aid them in deciding on a major or even a career. In other words, it would help ensure their future once they're out of college and into the "real world." Such programs are already in place in many institutes of higher education, and even in high schools. And in 2003, Michael R. Veon, a Democrat and a member of Pennsylvania's House Of representatives, introduced a bill Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Responsibility Responsibility, It Is Personal Gen/200 July 1, 2013 Lisa Hailey Responsibility, It Is Personal The term Personal responsibility can be defined in many ways, yet there is no one definite definition. To be personally responsible, one would first have to have the ability to be accountable for ones actions. Everyone is raised in their own unique atmosphere, and the levels of responsibility introduced during that upbringing will vary largely. For some people, the concept of personal responsibility will be introduced at a very young age, for example a young child learning to play a musical instrument, or competing in a dance performance. When one fails to take personal responsibility for their education, it can lead to receiving a failing grade for the course, suspension, and even expulsion. Taking personal responsibility for one's education is more than attending class. You must be responsible for understanding the intended objective of the class, or classes. You must be responsible for submitting your work, and assuring that that work is not plagiarized. You must also be responsible for preparing for exams. When some or all of these areas are neglected, one is due to fail in completing their education. Unfortunately, when one fails to meet the obligations of fulfilling their duties as a student, it can affect their financial aid. This is also an ongoing problem within our education systems today. If a student defaults on their school loans, they become another digit in the statistics of loan default. Once a school district reaches a certain level, the opportunity for another student to receive financial assistance ceases. "More than 66 percent of loan volume issued through the federal guaranteed–student–loan program to students at Bennett in the 2006 fiscal year went through Sallie Mae, according to data compiled by Student Marketmeasure."
