  3. 3. Architecture – an un explored Industry. Architecture is the art and science of designing buildings and other physical structures. A wider definition often includes the design of the total built environment from the macro level of Town planning, urban design, and landscape architecture to the micro level of construction details and, sometimes, furniture. The term “Architecture” is also used for the profession of providing Architectural services.
  4. 4. Difference of Architecture and Civil Engg.  Civil Engineering and Architecture are involved in planning and designing structures. However, Architecture focuses more on the spatial functionality and aesthetics of the development work and is more concerned with the artistry, look, feel and functionality of the design. Civil Engineering concentrates on the structural elements of the design, making certain that the structure can endure normal and extreme conditions.

Eligibility  10+2 scheme of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and also at least 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination  Passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate  International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination. +  Passing an aptitude test in architecture. (NATA) – Admission to all Universities except – IITS, NITS & CFTIS  The Aptitude Test in Architecture shall consist of 2 papers:  (i) Test - I – Aesthetic Sensitivity - 100 marks - duration of test: One hour. - 40% marks to pass test  (ii) Test - II – Drawing - 100 marks - duration of test: Two hours. - 40% marks to pass test (Or)  Meriting JEE mains 2. ( NTA ) - Admission to all IITS, NITS & CFTIS  The Aptitude Test in Architecture shall consist of 1 Paper:  (i) Test – 3 Parts ( Maths, Aptitude & Drawing) - 390 marks - duration of test: Three hours. - Merit Based candidacy.

Courses in Under graduation.  The architecture Under Graduation course shall be of minimum duration of 5 academic years / 10 semesters with 2 stages and each inclusive of approximately 18 working weeks & one year of practical training after the first stage in a Professional’s office.  4 Major Courses in UG. Generally, architects are licensed to practice architecture.  An architect either can work independently or for some architecture company or Construction / Real estate developing firm.
