Job search today is fundamentally different than it was 10, 20 or 30 years ago. The rules have changed, but not all the players are aware of this - especially those in transition and older generations of workers.
In this new presentation, Steve Murphy from Bamboo Interactive will show you a game plan for finding a job in the digital age, including using tools like LinkedIn, Twitter, Wordpress and others to help you secure your dream job.

Finding Jobs in a Digital Age: How to Apply Smart & Land Your Dream Job
1.
2. The Job Search Has Changed
A lot has changed the past few years.
There are new rules being introduced to the
game – but not everyone knows about them.
6. But Wait! Are Jobs Scarce?
According to Forbes, there are roughly
4 MILLION
unfilled jobs right now.
7. The problem is a disconnect.
The way companies are hiring isn’t matching
the way applicants are applying.
Applicants
≠
Companies
8. A Big Opportunity (For Us)
Digital makes it easier for applicants to
stand out in the crowded market place and
meet the standards of hiring companies.
Let’s jump in!
9. Remember: You don’t have to swim faster than
the shark…just faster than the next swimmer!
11. The Holy Grail of Job Search
A resume is a must-have for the job search.
Its your personal financial statement – if you
expect a company to invest in you, show
them what you’re worth!
12. Build a Master Resume
This document should be much longer than
a resume you would apply with.
Use it as your “word bank” when building
custom resumes.
A master resume template will save you a lot
of time in the future.
13. Be Specific & Actionable
When building your resume, ask yourself the
following:
What have you accomplished in the past?
Can you back it up with numbers?
What potential do you have for the future?
15. Format It for Software
Save two copies: One for people, one for
software.
Creating a plain text version is more easily
read by software like Taleo + iCims.
27. But Steve, I can’t code…
That’s ok – there are plenty of web providers
that allow you to make a website without
knowing a lick of code.
Here’s a few of my favorites…
42. Apply To Companies You Love
Not every company posts their jobs online.
Just because a job isn’t listed, doesn’t mean
they aren’t hiring!
43. Keep in mind…
Remember that it is often a numbers game.
Set goals for yourself daily and weekly.
Test + improve your resume, profiles, etc.
regularly.
Never, ever give up! You will land.
